Top 5 Tips On How To Create A Comfy, Cosy Corner

Autumn has arrived, winter is approaching, and soon the clocks will go back, meaning the nights will be drawing in.

A cosy corner is not only a place for rest and relaxation, but also the perfect refuge from the cold, so if you don’t have one already set up in your home, now is a great time to create a comfy spot.

And best of all you don’t need a big space for one, it can be created in any nook or cranny of your home.

Budget wise too you can be as flexible as your finances will allow, with a range of affordable and more luxurious accessories being available so you can make your cosy corner truly your own.

With that in mind, here are our top five tips on how to create the comfiest, cosiest and cushiest corner possible.

1. Soft Rugs

The best place to start is with a soft rug, as not only does placing this underneath or by the chair of your choosing mark the spot out as your own cosy corner, but it immediately makes it more inviting too.

Giving originally bare flooring new life, you can go for any texture you like from luxurious silk to fluffy sheepskin, adding personality to your nook.

If you prefer the latter, our round ones come in a variety of colours and are ready to tickle your senses when you touch them with your bare feet.

2. Snuggly Blankets

Once you have the rug down it’s time to add some more fabric textures and accessories to your corner, starting off with a snuggly blanket that is perfect to cuddle up in during those cool winter nights.

Again there are a range of fabrics from cotton to wool, but fleece might be our favourite as not only is it soft, but it’s also the right thickness to ensure you are both not too cold or too warm.

Fleece blankets also lend themselves well to a variety of prints so there will be one to suit everyone’s style.

And if you fancy a fun project, you can always try knitting your own blanket too with some chunky yarn.

3. Warm Lighting

Cosy corners are perfect spots for reading a book, enjoying a TV show on your tablet or even lying down for a soothing nap, so it is essential you light up that space.

Not with a cold light though, but something warm that will again make the nook even cosier.

And you can do that with a table lamp, a wall light or even a form of fairy lights (these cute sausage dog ones are our personal favourite).

4. Scented Candles

You don’t need us to tell you that scented candles are a must for any cosy corner, but they are so essential we couldn’t not include them in this list!

Not only does the flickering flame add warmth, but if you pick the right scent for your spot it will make it even enticing.

Our favourite scents for autumn include anything with notes of pumpkin, cedarwood, apple or spices, or even more therapeutic smells which will help you wind down after a stressful day at work.

5. A Cute Mug For A Good Cuppa

As we mentioned earlier, cosy corners are perfect for relaxation time with a good novel or entertaining show, and therefore a cuppa tea, coffee or hot chocolate is a must!

Which makes a cute mug an essential of course, and choosing one that fits the style of your nook would be a wise and aesthetically pleasing move.

Luckily for you we have hundreds on site which come in a range of colours and designs, meaning there is something that will match any style of cosy corner.
