You've never got a fishing rod on you when you want one. Oh how we remember all those times strolling along the banks of the Limpopo, when up pops the fin of a marlin, or perhaps we hear the splash of a leaping sword-fish, and darn it if we've forgotten a fishing rod. If only we'd had a Pocket Fishing Rod to hand? Of course marlin and swordfish are not fresh-water fish and we've never been to the Limpopo, but it sounded more appealing than watching a dead perch floating in the Grand Union Canal. We're getting off the point somewhat (again!). Ok, this clever little gadget is about the size of a large marker pen at only eight inches long, and yet opens up to become an aluminium alloy 4ft fishing rod, complete with a left and right handed reel (packed separately), a 5lb breaking strain line, and even includes a triple hook spinner. Never again will you be caught short when you spot a fish rise, and it's small enough to carry with you everywhere!
Please note: To cast the Pocket Fishing Rod line you need to pull some slack from the reel. The reel will not automatically cast just by flicking the rod.

MAKES TIDDLERS LOOK HUGE
The Pocket Fishing Rod is a giant pen with a real fishing rod inside with proper gears and everything, and it works!
better than my friends Jeve
My friend said this Pocket Fishing Rod would be terrible but we went fishing and I caught a fish 3 times bigger than his.
A sticky situation
I believe the Pocket Fishing Rod is one of the top gadgets. I can whip it out anytime I like and it even beats my friend's rod. Now I have the better rod.
I got the Pocket Fishing Rod for my husband 's birthday. It might look a bit gimmicky, but we took it on holiday to Turkey, to keep our luggage weight down. He managed to catch 6 bass in an hour off the jetty outside our hotel, including two which made a decent meal, so he's as happy as larry.
Pocket Fishing Rod
The Pocket Fishing Rod is fantastic, bought as a joke for a fisherman but he thinks it's brill. Came in good time aswell.
Pen fishing rod
The Pocket Fishing Rod suits my hobby of sea fishing. It's very useful, I ended up purchasing two. Very good and very satisfied.
I bought a Pocket Fishing Rod for my brother and was most impressed by the design so I bought one for me and each of my kids. When packed up, they look like chrome-plated over-sized fountain pens (~20 cm) and pack away really easily. The rods are made from carbon fibre, I think, so they are amazingly light and flexible. The telescopic sections pull out to form a rod that extends about 1.5m. The reel is perhaps the only area that I found a bit tricky to use. The rod is designed and equipped for fishing with a lure and normally, reels used for this type of fishing are fitted with a metal gizmo that flips over to allow you to cast the line. Once cast, you flip the gizmo back to wind in the line. The reel supplied with this rod is not designed like this, so you must pull out a long length of line before casting. The result is that the line often got tangled (very frustrating). The rod was not supplied with instructions which may have identified a simpler way of using the reel. I think it should be possible to purchase and fit a normal spinning reel to the rod although you would loose the advantage of the amazingly compact design of the supplied reel. All in all though, I think with some perseverance, this rod should prove to be a great success. The kids loved them and quickly got the hang of using them.
