1My son was really looking forward to using the Pickmaster. We used an old credit card as that seems to be a good thickness for a pick but the blades did not cut cleanly and the pick was really jammed in the machine. I had to use a thin blade to prise the pick out. This has happened every time, so we are very disappointed.

3I got one of these for myself, because contrary to popular belief, picks aren't actually that cheap! Most of the reviews on here are from people giving them away as gifts - yes the idea is great, the product is solid and feels robust enough to do the job - but my picks are still attached right at the very top and the edges are rougher than my actual guitar playing! Which is to say they are so rough you could cut yourself on the edges if you're not careful. You will need to sand the picks after pressing them out so don't think you can just pack this in your case and make picks on the spot...

3I got the Pickmaster Plectrum for myself and it's not as good as it seems. The press is ok but I end up with a bit still connected at the top of the pick. The edges are extremely rough, so much so, you may cut yourself if you're not careful and I would certainly not play my guitar with it. You will have to sand the pick once you've punched it out in order to play your guitar with it.

5The Pickmaster Plectrum is excellent! I bought one for my husband for Christmas and now he has a lifetime supply of plectrums, although nothing made of plastic is now safe. It's ideal for getting rid of old credit cards. He said it is the best present ever and I'm about to buy another one for my sister.

5We spontaneously developed a new Christmas game with this groovy gadget being passed around. Musical Plectrum Production - when the music stops, the lucky punch holder clips out a pick. One challenge was to find a big enough supply of suitable materials to punch prior to the game. We tried ice cream tubs and various other food cartons, packaging from presents and print cartridges, laminated stuff and credit cards (well, no-one wants to run up debts on them, do they?). Another challenge was to make the holder start passing the punch around again once the music re-started! We did need to use a nail file to smooth some of the cut edges, but we all agreed it's a small price to pay for endless plectrum perfection. Every household should have one. Until that happens, we are going to take ours with us everywhere to share the fun.
