Reptile and Bug Experience at Dartmoor Zoo

Go behind the scenes of the world of creepy-crawlies with this Reptile and Bug Experience for up to four at Dartmoor Zoo. You and up to three lucky friends will be getting hands-on in a fun and educational 30 minute workshop, that will show you what’s involved in looking after reptiles and bugs.

There’ll be plenty of photo opportunities too. Great for kids and adults alike, this is perfect for anyone looking to extend their knowledge of reptiles and have some fun as they do it.

What happens on the day?

Your Reptile and Bug Experience will take place at Dartmoor Zoo, during which you’ll get a unique insight into behind the scenes with a fun and educational workshop.

Your experience will last roughly 30 minutes, and there’ll be plenty of photo opportunities as you go.

Participant guidelines

• Minimum age: 6 (under 16s need to be accompanied by an adult) Proof of age may be required
• The experience is not recommended for anyone who is pregnant, has a high blood pressure, or is of a nervous disposition.
• The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary

Availability

The experience is available on selected weekdays and weekends throughout the year.

We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. Demand is high and places are strictly limited, so you're advised to book well in advance to avoid disappointment. All bookings are subject to availability.

Please allow 30 minutes for the experience.

Please wear casual comfortable clothing.

What about the weather?

This experience can be conducted in any weather.

Additional information

You will be allowed to take photographs, but only at the discretion of the zoo staff.

During the experience, instructions by zoo staff must be followed at all times and participation is allowed only on your acceptance of the strict health and safety requirements which you'll be required to sign on the day.

Please note that this experience is subject to availability, conditions and animal welfare considerations.

What about insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.

How it works

All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.
