Buying a Wiki-Pad nowadays is kinda "retro", as it is a 2013 NOS product (New Old Stock), but although is an Android 4.2.2 device, is a powerful Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core tablet, very capable while running some actual android games with 1Gb RAM and 16Gb of internal storage... It's a NOS device, so you will get a brand-new-sealed-shiny box, that after charging it (at least the unit I got) you will pass trough an OTA update (a little heavy and slow one)... Some of the included software will not auto-update after a Google Play upgrade process, so you will need to "search" for it's title and then click on the update button manually, this will required to use Dead Trigger 1 & 2 and may be other software. About the hardware: It is really well done, buttons and triggers are big enough to fulfill the needs of a grown-up-big-handed man (or woman), and it's really responsive to touch. Some times it will not be working after boot-up, so you will need to dettach-re-attach the tablet from it's gaming cradle the get it working, You may encounter a little nasty NOS inconvenient: When peeling the screen protection plastic, some of the old adhesive will remain in your glass screen, so prepare some alcohol to clean it. It has a well designed software to map some parts of the screen to the corresponding buttons, so any tittle can be played with it's hardware, but some of actual tittles will not be functional, as being an Nvidia Tegra 3 will cause some "blacking" issues on minor games... I bought this for retro-gaming, so, hold on... Stick a big micro-SD card with "legally owned" ROMs and install some retro-emulators and a front-end (I recommend RetroArch and Gamesome Frontend), and this tablet will run anything from a ZX Spectrum to a N64 or PSX game without effort, and it's media capabilities will allow it to watch any video locally or from any streaming service. Regards
It's best gift for my 8yr old nephew especially he can take it anyway with him.
Purchased this early Dec. to be delivered in Spain with another item. First can I say that IWOOT.COM POSTAGE AND TRACKING WERE THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD IN SENDING ITEMS TO ME IN SPAIN. The pad is all the things it claims to be in most respects, clear , lightweight , and my son and his Friend had great fun with the games that were on the tablet. THE BIG BUT IS; that I cannot get it on the wifi and to hold the signal for more than a couple of mins if I do. trying to get it on wifi it just repeats authenticating/checking continuously. I have 3 kindles here a Kobo and a ASUS PHONE TABLET as well as a laptop here which all work well on the wifi which is not the quickest in the world I grant you. I bought this so I could put all my games in one space for traveling and ease but as yet cannot do this as I cannot import anything. I shall leave my winter escape at the beginning of March and hopefully I shall be able to get on line at home in England. If this is successful [or or not] I shall review my rating again. Watch this space!!!
Excellent quality. Amazing sale price. Thank you
I saw this on offer and thought it would make a great gift for my son, who wanted a decent tablet. The quality is very good, the screen resolution is excellent and it operates just like a normal Android tablet. But where this has the advantage over others is the addition of the gaming accessory, so it then becomes more like a Nintendo DS or PS Vita, but one that plays loads of Android games. The controls are responsive and there is a very large list of compatible games - worth checking out if you want to give a gaming fan a hybrid between a tablet and a handheld console.
Positives Excelent piece of kit, super fast internet conection, easy to use and set up. Negatives. once set up is conected to game centre it tries to download unwanted games and app's, ( This may be my fault as i've never used one before and may need some fine tuning)
