Surrounded by stunning views of the Peak District National Park, your fantastic day encompasses everything from the practical elements such as sharpening carving gouges and undercutting to the more artistic aspects, including the six keys to engender a creative mindset.

Your talented tutor will guide you in carving a relief in wood, and highly personalised one-to-one tuition ensures you’ll get the most out of your day. Take a break for a delicious vegan lunch before continuing the creativity. At the end of the day you’ll take home your completed wood carving, along with photos, as the perfect memento of your experience.

What happens on the day?

On arrival, you’ll meet your tutor, a true master of sculpture who’ll teach you all you need to know to kick-start a fantastic new skill. Your day encompasses all aspects of carving, from the practical to the creative. You’ll break for lunch, and at the end of the day you’ll be able to take home your very own creation.

Your voucher is valid for 9 months from the date of issue

Participant guidelines

• Minimum age: 18
• Please be aware there is no disability access at the venue
• Participants will be standing for most of the day
• This workshop is aimed at complete beginners
• No spectators are allowed
• The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary

Availability

The experience is available with various start times from 09.00 on selected days excluding Saturday and Christmas Day.

We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.

Please allow 7 hours for the full experience.

What about insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.

How it works

All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.

Please Note: If you’re purchasing a NEW Experience you will be entitled to the validity stated within this description. If/when you are within 3 months of the voucher expiry date and there are still restrictions in place, Virgin Experience Days are offering free extensions to allow the customer to use at a later date.
