The Summer Playlist You Didn’t Know You Needed

Summer is officially here*. With the longer nights in full swing your social calendar is probably filling up quite nicely and the thought of spending your weekends actually being outside doesn’t seem that bad. But what about the soundtrack to all those summer nights? Well look no further, because we’ve put together the summer playlist you didn’t know you needed. We’ve tried to give you a good mix of chart toppers, new releases and golden oldies so there really is a little bit of something for everyone.

*At the time of writing this whilst sat in an office in Greater Manchester, the weather outside is vaguely ‘sunny’ (read as: not raining). With this in mind it’s more than appropriate to declare this summer.

Want You Back- Haim

Haim’s second album Something to Tell You is the latest offering from the LA trio. It was difficult to take just one song from this album but Want You Back has all the beats of an instant classic (and the perfect start to your summer playlist).

Despacito- Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee Ft. Justin Bieber

Love it or loathe it, you can’t deny that the Biebs has come through with another infectious chart topper. Keep on doing you, JB!

Islands in the Sun- Weezer

Everything about this song oozes summer vibes. Best enjoyed whilst sipping an ice cold refreshing beverage.

Summer of ’69- Bryan Adams

You know it, your mum knows it, Bryan Adams knows everyone knows this song. Do we really need to say anything more?

She’s Electric- Oasis

With Liam Gallagher making his return to the lime light and the rumour mill powering on, we couldn’t help but mention one of their classic songs.

Staying Out For The Summer- Dodgy

As the artist name suggests it’s a questionable choice but there’s a time and a place for this song in your summer playlist. It also has summer in the name of the song.
