Ever wondered how long it takes to fly from France to the Ukraine? Or have you been left in a floundering mess trying to remember how to say "hello" in Algeria? Or maybe you just can't remember the national anthem of Poland? Well wonder no longer, the Smart Globe is here to answer all of your geographical questions.
An amazingly intuitive and up-to-date educational tool, we think the Smart Globe truly is the future for interactive learning. Simply pick up the remote-control Smart Pen and get started - touching the control panel and any country will give you masses of useful info about whatever you touch. Currency, capital cities, national anthems, history, current leaders, in fact, anything you could conceivably want to know about world geography. We rather loved the 'find the city' game, where the globe announces city names and you have to find them and touch them with the magic pen as fast as possible - and there are loads of other games that had us wasting way too much time (but in an educational way). There are around 30 other similar games to keep you on your toes, too. What's more, the pull-out map of the UK reveals another surface the Smart Pen can tell you about in great detail.
So it's neat and interactive, but what's different about that to any decent textbook? What separates the Smart Globe is the opportunity to continually update it by connecting via USB cable to your computer. You can register your globe online, meaning world news updates and any information changes are immediately sent to the Smart Pen - something no textbook could offer without employing a full-time academic with good crossing-out skills.
You can test yourself in different languages, play games, get news updates and learn facts about the Earth and the solar system, making this an amazingly full package that can only get fuller as time goes on. It's suitable for ages 5 all the way to adults, with a customisable age selection making sure the information is pitched at the right level. All in all, a fascinating and evolving product.
