One Day Fire Pit Feast Cooking Workshop

Spark up your barbecue enthusiasm and get ready for flame-kissed flavours with this One Day Fire Pit Feast Cooking Workshop.

All you need to bring is your appetite. In the relaxed surroundings of Elm Farm, you’ll get stuck into the whole process from start to finish - from foraging, to lighting a strong, solid fire, cooking, and glazing. You’ll cook the likes of seasonal vegetables, grass-fed beef cuts, and organic pork joints, as well as making sauces and a glaze from the award-winning honey produced by bees on the farm.

This is the oldest and most traditional form of cooking known to humans – directly over an open fire. It’s a highly social day, with unlimited refreshments, beers and cider for you to enjoy as you lead up to the main event: the feast!

What happens on the day?

On arrival at Elm Farm, you’ll meet your fellow workshop participants. You’ll be taken through the basics of lighting a fire, experimenting with different woods for flavour, before heading out to the veg and flower gardens to forage.

Having collected some goods, you’ll be cooking up a storm over your open fire, with the likes of British beef, whole chicken, potatoes and more. You’ll make sauces and a honey-based glaze (sourced directly from the bees on the farm). Refreshments are provided throughout the day, and at the end, you’ll be served up a feast brimming with meat and vegetable delights, alongside fresh baked bread and salad. The relaxed, stunning surroundings make this an ideal cooking experience in the great outdoors!

Participant guidelines

• Minimum age: 16 (under 18s must be accompanied by a full paying adult)
• Do not participate if you have allergic reaction to insect stings
• The experience is not suitable for spectators
• The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary

Availability

Vouchers are valid for 9 months from the date of issue.

The experience is available 09.30 to 16.30 on selected dates.

We recommend you book at least eight weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.

Please allow 7 hours for the full experience.

What should I wear?

You are advised to wear enclosed footwear (no flip-flops or sandals) and something to keep warm as you'll be outside all day.

What about the weather?

Light rain or cold won’t affect the experience. There is a warm, cosy barn and also covered outdoor space. Heavy rain does put out fires though, so they will rearrange workshops that may get washed out.

What about insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
