It was May 30, 1979 when the great managerial double act of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor led Forest to unimaginable peaks by winning the European Cup. The moment which went into Nottingham folklore, and sealed a 1-0 victory over Malmo in Munich, came just before half-time when John Robertson delivered a superb left-wing cross and Trevor Francis acrobatically headed the ball into the net. It may have been an unremarkable final, but it was certainly the end to a remarkable story. Under their maverick manager Brian Clough, Nottingham Forest, a relatively small English provincial club, had won European club football’s biggest prize. In a competition that had started with the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus and Liverpool taking part, it was Nottingham Forest who had run out winners. They had shown what man management and teamwork could achieve.
Here is an official replica 1979 European Cup Final shirt, commemorating the 1-0 win over Hamburg. It is signed by the comples first XI Peter Shilton, Viv Anderson, Larry Lloyd, Kenny Burns, Frank Clarke, Trevor Francis, John McGovern, Ian Bowyer, John Robertson, Tony Woodcock & Garry Birtles.
The shirt was personally signed at signing sessions carried out and attended by Allstarsignings and it is superbly framed and ready to hang.
The item comes with an Allstarsignings certificate of authenticity which will have photographic proof inserted into it.
