What happens on the day?

Upon arrival at one of the two departure points, you’ll exchange your voucher and be welcomed aboard your shared punt by your chauffeur and guide for the day.

Then you’ll set out on your 45 minute shared punting tour. Your consummate guide will navigate the famous college backs, all the while providing insight into the sights and stories of the city.

Availability

The experience is available seven days a week all year round, except Christmas Day, conditions permitting. Opening hours are 09.00 to dusk and shared College Backs tours depart every 15 to 30 minutes, with the last tour departing approximately 60 minutes before the day's closing time.

Please allow 45 minutes for the tour.

The punt tours operate on a walk-up basis and are not pre-booked in advance. You must activate your voucher and bring it with you to your chosen punting location.

What should I wear?

Please dress appropriately for the weather.

What about the weather?

Bad weather may affect your experience.

The Speed of the river is measured by meters per second (MPS). When the speed reaches above 0.8mps it is then deemed unsafe for chauffeured punts to be on the river.

If your experience cannot take place an alternative date will be offered to you. You are advised to contact the experience provider before your experience.

Additional information

Please note: the punt tour will be a shared experience - the maximum number of passengers is 12.

What about insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.

How it works

All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.

Please Note: If you’re purchasing a NEW Experience you will be entitled to the validity stated within this description. If/when you are within 3 months of the voucher expiry date and there are still restrictions in place, Virgin Experience Days are offering free extensions to allow the customer to use at a later date. They are reviewing this regularly in line with Government advice and updates.
