Hidden away amongst the Western Isles of Scotland is the remote island of Scarp, where a handful of people live a quiet existence. Tucked away from a world of political unrest in the 1930s the last thing the islanders expect, much less want, is a visit from a German rocket scientist.
Director Stephen Whittaker's The Rocket Post is the charming true story of Gerhard Zucher (Ulrich Thomsen - Kingdom of Heaven, The World Is Not Enough) who tried to revolutionize the Western Isles postal service by sending mail in a rocket between the isles, and Catherine (Shauna MacDonald - The Descent, TV's Spooks) who falls in love with him. This simple but touching and gently humourous story is beautifully told and truly embraces the desolate yet breathtaking scenery of the Outer Hebrides.
