The year is 1956 and the place is Creedmore Prison, the last of the primitive western territory penitentiaries; a huge, stone monster crouched low against the Tetons. Charlie Forsythe (Viggo Mortensen), a prisoner convicted of a murder he didn't commit, is electrocuted. Ethan Sharpe (Lane Smith), the prison's most brutal guard, is the only man who knows, but instead of speaking out he stands silently by.
The truth about Charlie Forsythe dies with him, and is buried when the doors to Creedmore Prison are sealed shut forever. Until now...
Overcrowding forces the prison board to reopen Creedmore's iron gates, and Ethan Sharpe is reinstated as the Warden. But it is not long before Warden Sharpe realizes the prison has not lain entirely empty. Within the prison walls, an old enemy is waiting for him.
