If you are a little short for cash or wanting to do something a little different compared to previous Valentine’s days spent out in restaurants surrounded by other couples then this 5-step plan is for you.

  1. Step 1 - Quality time

After grabbing some breakfast in bed, why not plan a day out exploring somewhere new together? You don’t have to spend much or go too far to be surrounded by beautiful British countryside, and with the world wide web at your fingertips, finding the perfect walking destination couldn’t be simpler. Start by looking on the National Trust website to see what’s near you, or if woodland is what you are after, check out the Forestry Commission for some ideas!

  2. Step 2 - Create an atmosphere

Once you have blown away the cobwebs of the week, showered off the mud and changed into warm clothes, you’ll need a romantic atmosphere ready for the evening! First things first, clear away the clutter, dust down the sides and give the place a quick hover (recommend this before the big day of course). Once your home is ready, you can start creating your very own ambiance, and no romantic atmosphere would be complete without candlelight. These Nkuku candle holders are currently in our 3 for £20 deal, and would finish off any table setting, filled with aromatic tea lights.

  3. Step 3 - Hassle free cooking

Now for the main event, the meal! For complete hassle free cooking, get someone else to cook and order a takeaway meal in advance. However, if you want to put in some extra special effort and fancy experimenting in the kitchen, check out the BBC Good Food website for some stress free recipe ideas.

  4. Step 4 - Get cosy

Once you have had your fill of delicious food, it’s time to move into the living room, get cosy and finish off that bottle of wine. Take your candlelight into the living room with you, and make sure you have blankets to hand to snuggle up together on the sofa. Don’t have any? Check out our range of throws where you will find a wide range of gorgeous coloured blankets to match any living room!

  5. Step 5 - Pick up a romantic film

To finish the evening off, nothing beats an iconic romantic movie. If you are stuck for ideas, we have pulled together our top Valentine’s movies to give you some inspiration. If films are not your thing, why not gather up all your romantic music for you to enjoy together through out the evening, picking out tracks that bring back memories you share together.
