Camping is a joy, camping lights however are so often not. Finding batteries in the midst of the wilds is no easy task, which is why this wind-up camp light is such a dream. Unlike so many of its predecessors, this light has an incredibly efficient winding mechanism, and as it uses LEDs, you'll never have to change the bulbs. As well as a bright main light that casts a beautifully even glow, there are also two safety/night lights which from a full wind-up charge will glow for up to 48 hours, so you'll always be able to find it in the dark.
The eco-friendly wind mechanism will give you thirty minutes of ambient light from just one minute's winding, and a full 'wind-up' will give you four hours of light. Its table-top design is augmented by a recessed hanging loop in the base, so you can pop it on a table, or string it up on a tree, the top of your tent, whatever. As well as muscle power, it comes with a 12v in-car charger, so you give it a quick boost in the car if you're feeling weary. This is a wind-up light that's built to last.

Wound up all over the place...
Tired of scrambling around in the dark, only to find that the batteries in your torch have gone flat as a pancake and you have no spares? Irritated irrationally with those wind up lamps that wind you up more than themselves when they shine for 5 minutes and then slowly go dim? Having said that you can probably guess I’m about to praise some object for doing the opposite, so I won’t pain you by repeating that this lantern DOESN’T do the former or the latter. It’s a great light for camping: you can stand it up, hang it up, or prop it up on that pile of dirty clothes you forgot to bring a bag for; you can have it super bright for when you go the loo at two in the morning and would otherwise completely miss your tent in the dark (“Oh, hello, what are you doing inside my tent? Sorry, I mean, what am I doing inside yours???”) It also has a neat little nightlight so you don’t freak out after waking up from a nightmare about having forgotten the IWOOT glow-in-the-dark toilet roll, which lasts for an eco-pessimist-defying 60 hours on a full wind. If all that winding winds you up, (I’ll never tire of that pun) you can just plug it into your car ciggy lighter and yay! The car battery does it all for you! But to get the full ‘I’m-a-green-camper-I’ve-been-winding-things-up-for-2-decades’ sensation, the best thing you can do is sit there and whine along with your light for a good 10 minutes until your peeps are begging for less brightness and you can’t believe a lamp with so much power could possibly be totally eco-friendly. But it is… and that’s the miracle about this fantastical blinker. So lighten up the world, your life, your camping trip, and your dog doing a wee on the side of your tent with a truly genius invention. It’s great, honestly. I’m not just winding you up! So useful!
I bought two of these lamps as we have a place in the country with no electric light. We charge the lamp in the car with the cigar lighter. Couldn't be easier. The light is fantastic not only for seeing what you're doing, but it also doubles as a deterrant for possible burglars! You can leave it on at night and it lasts for hours! And of course it's great for outdoors. If the light starts to fade you just wind it up again! Excellent purchase.

is this a wind up?
We love our windyuplamp! We got one for our camping buddies too... and they love it just as much! The only drawback is DO NOT LOSE THE CHARGE CABLE!! The winding is fine, but the initial charge while driving to your campsite is a godsend!!

brilliant product
After turning the handle for a few minutes the lamp gives a great light which you can easily use to see to read or do a crossword. I have yet to take it camping but i look forward to it!

Really good
This was a present for my son and daughter in law, who go camping regularly. They think it is great and use it at home too.

Not as good as I thought it would be
It's is a funky design & looks neat hanging up in the tent, however, the light from the l.e.d.'s is not as bright as I was led to believe, so a bit disappointed, but it is still an eco friendly lamp.

Never be in the dark!!
This was an excellent purchase. I have wind up torches which have been very useful especially in surprise power cuts. This is even better as it can stand or hang up leaving your hands free. Saves always having to find new batteries for torches in emergencies
