Grow Your Own Venus Fly Trap, no we're not kidding. There are very few examples of veg being able to get its own back against all of us fauna, and the Venus Fly Trap is probably the most famous. It may seem strange that of all the meat a Venus Fly Trap chooses to eat, it picks flies, yuk, still we guess they're easy to catch. You don't often see a plant bringing down a bounding gazelle now do you - even if they do taste better.
Their natural home is South Carolina in the USA, and they can be a challenging plant to grow indoors as conditions must be as close as possible to their natural habitat (mossy and marshy surroundings), in order for the plant to thrive. The kit comes with a mini plant pot, seeds, a compost pellet, and of course detailed instruction on how to raise your seed into a fully fledged carnivorous plant.

Waste of money - nothing grew
Followed instructions exactly. Used a plant incubator to keep temperature at correct level. None of the seeds germinated - waste of money! If germination rate is so poor they should provide many more seeds (rather than just the 6 provided). Or provide a clear upfront warning that germination rates are very low!

could be better
My boyfriend loves the idea of a plant that can eat flies, so i thought this would be a brilliant gift for him, although his face filled with glee just like a little boy on christmas day, however i have found that the gift didnt work as well as planned, it seemed as if it was working then, it started to show signes of mould on the top, and this rappidly got worse. its not too much of a problem as, it wasn't expensive, and i now have the memory of his face in my mind. Thanks for all the fun IWOOT!!!
