The Hexbug Ant scuttles around on its six rotating legs at top speed. Object sensors on its rear and its antennas mean that it will scuttle off in its ant-like way as soon as it detects an obstacle. Any detection results in the Ant shooting off in another direction.
It also has a sensor at the rear so if another obstacle is detected (i.e. another wall) then the Ant will avoid this too! These funky little critters make great little desktop friends.

This little creature is crazy!! Hilarious to watch it whizzing around the room
What an ingenious little creature. The Hexbug Ant provides endless fun and entertainment. It works best on a kitchen floor but works great on shortpile carpet too. We have already purchased a second one and no doubt a third will be bought soon.
My kid got this as a present. Its so much fun and now it has turned into a party trick. It really runs around like a lunatic :)
I would recommend to a friend, no all my friends! My son had so much fun and when his friend came over all they did was play with the hexbug, you gotto buy it, it's so cool.
Clever but not as much as fun as the Hexbug Nano. Wish I'd bought a couple of Nanos for my nephew instead.
My husband loves this bug. Its so cute and entertaining :)
Very simple to use and moves in a very quirky way. Only downside is that slightly fragile, one of our legs got bent, but we fixed it with a bit of careful manipulation!
Bought the little fella for my 3 year olds birthday. Unwrapped the insect and set him off. He ran around the floor retreating from the kids excited and slightly fearful squeals and hid under the sofa. My 3 year old then went on to playing with a large cardboard box meaning he was forgotten about for a few days. Eventually Found him in a corner walking in circles with 3 of his legs pulled off. Great little toy but probably suited to someone a bit older.
My partner loved his hexbug - so much so that he has named him! It's a clever little thing and does respond to sound and touch. When it comes to an obstacle in its path, it uses its right legs to reverse and then moves forwards again. It doesn't respond to light as the description suggests - unless ours happens to be a fan of light.
A little something that amuses all who watch it at work! Cute but not cuddly! Not just for the kids!Genius little fun bug....and the cat loved it too!
Plenty of fun for the kids. They got them in their stocking from Santa - (he's so clever). Have fun little matches among the family with them. They react to noise/touch and obstructions. Go forwards and in reverse - perhaps the crab goes sideways !?! Clever little chappies.
My 35yr old brother is the most awkward person to buy for as if he wants something - he buys it! He obviously hadn't heard of IWOOT - this hexbug went down a treat. Quirky, fun and kept him and his kids entertained - success all round - Thank you IWOOT =)
I bought this for my 5 year old for Christmas and even the adults loved it. Its really great how it responds to sound as well as physical barriers - short loud hand claps are best. Works best on smooth surfaces. Guaranteed hours of entertainment. Can't tell you how long the batteries will last as ours are still going strong which is great.
Even though its a bug its very cute and comical. I bought two so they could play together. Good present or a techy person
It basically very slowly went round in a slow circle and unless a lot of high obstacles were constructed for it it was really not of much interest and would not move on carpet. It did stop when you clapped hard enough to hurt your hand. Rather typical of such gizmos more interesting in the anticipation than reality.
Haven't played with this properly yet, but think it's fairly cute. It doesn't react as quickly as I thought it might, but it's still surprising nonetheless and an excellent stocking filler-type gift.
This is a cute little toy, and my grandson loves playing with it. On the down side, you have to clap veryloud to get it to change direction and the batteries are not easily available.
bought this as a stocking filler for my nephew who thought it was great fun, spent hours on the floor on Christmas day chasing it around! Cute and great value for money
Great little toy, providing much amusement for teenage sons, adults and cat!
I purchased one each for my husband and two grown up sons. They played for hours with them on Christmas Day, like excited little boys. It gave me time to have a sherry before cooking dinner. They are excellent!!
Sadly the hexbug did not respond as advertised. It reacted to neither light nor sound, but only to touch via its antennae. That was quite interesting, but NOT as interesting as I had hoped. My son is returning it. Service was excellent, but product less so. The Solar robot is yet to be constructed so I'm HOPING that will be fine.
Broke within minutes what a waste of money! clearly not worth buying unless you want to ad to landfill..
a very cleaver item in a very small pagage.good to play with for a while but couldn't watch it ALL day
Good stocking filler for the kids, no messing with batteries just switch on and away they go. We bought two, Good fun.
The Hexbug was a stocking filler for my little girl - it arrived within 48hrs of ordering, was very well packed and it works! As someone else mentioned, it would be nice if it wasn't running constantly as the on/off switch is a little fiddly to find, but I knew this before ordering, so am very pleased with my (ok my daughters) Hexbug :-)
Although not too fond of the edges of tables, the Hexbug Crab is quite adept at lying in wait beside a mouse mat, then - on a change of light level - scuttling across the keyboard and off to the other side of the desk. Like me, it doesn't like the daylight. Unlike me, it is colourful and modern. The batteries last a long time and when not in motion, the crab goes to sleep. I have not tested the non-crab Hexbugs yet.
Its a bit freaky watching this little critter running around the room. Its a great way to freak out your mother in law this Christmas.
The Hexbug is tiny, and a bit fragile. If it falls off something high it will break. But it's very cute!
I purchased this for my nephew for his Xmas present. He is a true boy's boy and even though he is only 6 he will love this (to play with with his dad). I am so sure I will have the most cool points for giving it to him. I haven't used it yet but it appears to be as adverstised and I am very happy with the purchase, I may have to get another for the other nephew in the USA.
I bought one of these as a joint small gift for my 9 yr old son and the cat, but when it arrived I couldn't wait until Christmas so the cat and I had a sneaky peak and try out! It's brillliant innocent fun- I couldn't stop laughing at the cat's face as the hexcrab scuttled around, changing direction and hiding. My son is going to love it and I suspect it will be one of the daft highlights of the festive season. I'm definitely going to buy a load more for all my son's friends' birthdays! I just hope the cat can still manage to look surprised on Christmas morning....
I bought 2 of these for my son's 13th birthday (for some reason it says not for under 14s on the packaging - can't see why). They're ok, but are quite slow and don't respond very quickly to noise/slamming your hand down in front of them. I was imagining something that would scuttle away quickly, but it's really not like that. A lot of money for what they are. A fair price would be about £4 I reckon.
Small and cute, this was the best stocking filler i bought so far. Couldn't resist having a little play on it myself before i wrapped it. Love the stock on IWOOT, brill items :)
The Hexbug looks very cute. I'd imagined though that you would turn it on and it would only move when activated - don't know why thought this, but in fact once you've turned it on it keeps on running until you turn it off. It forms an ornament now, not sure how often will turn it on as pretty limited, but then it is only a novelty item.
Got one of these little critters as a present for an awkward-to-buy-for friend (also because I wanted to play with it)! It worked straight out of the box and kept us ( a bunch of drunk grown ups) entertained.
Our Hexbug has now entertained us for weeks. He gets passed around and played with all the time, it's simple but ingenious. Excellent fun for the cash.
A fun item. Didn't always respond to noisetho' but this increased the giggles from my grandson, so I still reckon it is a good little gadget,
