Cast out your mobile phones (but keep the SIM card, it's quite important) and get ready for a new dawn in mobile technology. The sWap Watch has arrived.

For too long the mobile phone has dominated the landscape of techno communications, while the trusty watch was left alone on the bedside table, gathering dust while we, its selfish masters, galavanted from meeting to meeting, keeping time with our trusty pocket sized PDA's. The mobile phone heartlessly usurped the watch of its fundamental duties but the 'sWap Watch' is out for revenge and will not stop until the mobile phone has gone the way of the Sun Dial and the Dodo.

The tables have now been turned. The sWap Watch doesn't just double as a mobile phone - it's like having a multimedia centre strapped to your wrist, and all without the crushing shoulder strain.

Want to check your emails? Surf the internet? Listen to music? Take Pictures? Watch a movie? MAKE a movie? It does ALL of these. It's in danger of completely eradicating boredom, revolutionising every minute of your day into a potential fun zone. The next time you're stuck on the train you'll just need to check out the 1.5 inch screen on your wrist for an instant fix of entertainment that'll turn your commute into a pleasure cruise rather than a chore. The memory card slot allows you to insert a Micro SD card to upgrade the 512MB on board memory to a whopping 2GB. With all that memory you'll have no problem storing all the MP3s and movies you'd need for a short jaunt.

If you really get bored (and with this watch, it's hard to see how you could) you could even check the time (from one of the many different watch faces stored in it's memory) or make a phone call. The watch will accept most SIM cards, so upgrading is hassle free and making calls couldn't be simpler - just plug in the hands free kit and you're good to go. If you really want to go one step beyond and banish those pesky wires along with your mobile phone then you'll be ecstatic to hear that the watch is Bluetooth compatible. You won't even have to fork out for the headset as it's included in the package.

This may just be the last gadget you ever need to buy. The future has arrived and it's a wristwatch.

i find it simply amazing!
phill, london
It really wonderful. 007 style.like my childhood dream gadget. really like it. But give me one reason why should I believe the features it says in here about the watch. there is no video to see how it works with phone or camera or even mp4 whatever its claiming to be.

I visited the gadget show last weekend at the NEC and I thought that the sWaP watch was the only proper gadget there. I think that all the big names like Sony and LG were put to shame by this amazing little gadget. I personally recommend buying one there brilliant.

Mahbub, if it doesn't work as advertised it'd be illegal to sell it that way. Obviously it has the mentioned functions; it's just a question of how good. I'm dangerously close to getting one now, Heaven help me when they get cheaper.

This watch does everything promised and is a proper cool gadget. Plays videos and music well and the built-in speaker is very good. Very useable as a phone but supplied Bluetooth headset is not so good so I replaced it with another. Spare batteries and stylus can be bought from the importer. Great product!

I bought one of these the other day and OMG it is soooo cool. Casually talking into my watch when in the middle of a conversation has to be one of the highlights of my year (although i did get a few funny looks from time to time). It does all the things it says it does. Phone calls: these can be made and received, you can either use the built in loud speaker, the bluetooth headset/earphones or even talk directly in to it (this can be a bit on the quiet side if you dont get the position right). SMS: send and receive text messeges and MMS (assuming you have gone through the rather tricky set up procedure for setting up your GPRS). Receiving is simple where as sending can be a little fiddley (especially if you are muti-tasking). WAP: like i said early the setting are a little bugger to get right but once done it runs nicely, can be a little bit slow due to the lack of 3G. It has a built in camera for all your picture needs (well maybe not all perhaps just those quick snaps that you will use later for blackmail) It makes videos and can even act as a webcam (just about. with a frame rate of practically 2 per second) Looks-wise it's a charming piece, although it's a little on the chunky side measuring in at about 2cm of display and battery slapped onto your wrist and as expected a bit heavy. The strap is a nice metal linked one with a metal fastening clip wich means if you have small wrists (like me) you will have to get it altered professionally. The virtual display is pleasant and simple (reminding me of the good old days when color phones first hit the high street) making it easy to use, although not with the functionality of phones these days, it can also be quite time consuming what with sub-menu after sub-menu to get to that all import ring tone setting (and yes you can set your own tunes) and it even VIBRATES. Which leads me nicely to the music player. It's a good little mp3 player if you find your self stuck on the bus with no way to amuse your self otherwise again quite long winded. All in all a must-have gadget, but not one to replace your existing mobile (unless you are showing off to your ever-in-awe friends). I hope you find my review helpful in making that life changing decision to buy or not to buy? :D
