How does Le Whif work?
A single puff from Le Whif normally puts about 40 milligrams of chocolate in your mouth. These particles are too large to enter your lungs, but when you breathe, they are directed from the inhaler to the sides of your mouth, creating a taste sensation!
Using Le Whif:
Place Le Whif between your lips, and breathe in gently. Tiny particles of chocolate are picked up by the air stream and enter your mouth, falling onto your tongue. The inhaler sprays particles of chocolate into your mouth and suddenly you have an experience of flavour.
Origins of Le Whif:
Le Whif was invented by David Edwards, a Harvard Professor of Biomedical Engineering, with the help of Michelin-rated chef Thierry Marx. It works by utilising particle engineering, which reduces particles so that they're small enough to be airborne, but too large to enter the lungs.

Choke on this!
I think a few people have heard about the Le Whif Triple Pack and sold it as different ideas. The main talk appears to be that this is supposed to do for choc lovers what those plastic inhalers do for smokers. In reality, it's a nice, small gift to give to someone who likes the idea that they need a choc/coffee fix throughout the day. Overall, a nice, small gift for someone, especially those who love novelty.
Tasty but odd...
I bought the Le Whif Triple Pack - Zero Calorie Chocolate Assortment for my co-worker at Christmas. They looked like a fun alternative and as an ex-smoker, she may get a kick out of the comedy value. They provide a nice quick chocolate fix but the taste is not that wonderful and as a powdered variant of chocolate, they seem to stick in your throat and can make you cough. If you are a smoker, this will no doubt feel like second nature, but for me, it was like a powdered choke cloud! I'd keep them away from kids too, if anything, it could promote a desire to smoke chocolate bars in the future!
not worth the price
Bought this Le Whif as a gift for my partner. We're both dieting and get the odd cravings for chocolate etc. so I got this as a 'crave curber' as I'd read previous reviews and it's described as being an alternative. to be honest... not overly impressed! it's basically just hot chocolate (drinking powder) in a tube that you suck up and it disposes some into your mouth (very simple and an easy to use design). Tried the raspberry one and it only had a very slight hint of raspberry in it, it is bitter and has a chemical taste (not overly pleasant). Tried the mint one afterwards and we can't taste mint at all in it. Only positive really is it does tend to fend off the cravings for a while.
The Le Whif Triple Pack is absolutely amazing. I bought this along with the Le Whif Chocolate Pack as a silly present to myself as I was planning to cut out junk foods, and I have to say that they really do work. It suppressed cravings for that lunchtime chocolate bar. Since using this instead I have lost half a stone.
I was very disappointed in the Le Whif. The taste is unpleasant and not particularly chocolatey. The powder was a horrible texture and really irritated my throat. I'm all for low calorie chocolate fixes but sadly this isn't one! It made me want real chocolate all the more as it would have got rid of the dreadful taste!
What what that?!
The Le Whif Chocolate Assortment is basically a plastic tube, with hot chocolate powder inside, and you suck the powder out of the hole in the tube. For those of you thinking it'll be awesome, it's really not. It doesn't even taste like chocolate, or it might do, but with the 0.5 grams of powder you inhale each time, you wouldn't know if it does or doesn't. It is dry powder that you suck into your throat. I coughed pretty profusely after trying it. Not great.
Le Whif - Pure air
I regret having spent money on the Le Whif Triple Pack. It looked good and healthy. I guess some people would enjoy it, however it's simply not for me or my family. The taste is nothing like chocolate. Secondly the function so the powder comes out, doesn't work very well. All in all a product which doesn't satisfy my needs. This is my personal taste though, I'm not saying, 'don't buy it'. I'm just saying I don't like it.
not up to scratch
I was really excited about trying these Le Whif as I saw them on a programme about homes in the future. I'm sad to say that they all taste horrible, the mint one just takes like chocolate and so does the strawberry one! Instead of buying these you'd be better off shaking cocoa into your mouth and it gives the same effect, a mouth full of powder.
I love Le Whif. That's not a sentence I get to say every day, but I really do. I think it's a genius idea and the reality, for me, lives up to the expectation. I've seen a lot of reviews about how there aren't 8 puffs and the powder's too grainy so I will say this - puff gently! Don't suck a whole load in because, then yeah - it will taste foul and it won't last long. The raspberry one tastes more like strawberry (though, as I hate raspberry that's a good thing), the mint is very refreshing and the chocolate is delicious. All in all a good purchase to hold off on chocolate cravings or just to impress your friends with your cool gadgets.
I was really disappointed with the Le Whif. As other reviewers have said, the flavour is bitter, gritty and not chocolatey at all. Each tube lasts hardly any time at all - not great value for money. I am surprised IWOOT stocks these, I love everything else I have purchased here in the past.
Great novelty, pretty tasty, but gone quick!
I bought this Le Whif Triple Pack for my boyfriend as part of his birthday present. We had seen it on TV and he thought it was a great idea, so he was very happy to get it. After one or two puffs which made us cough our lungs out, we got the hang of it and the taste was really nice. Not as good as actual chocolate, but really nice! I only tried it once, as it was my birthday present to him but apparently it ran out really quickly. There are only 8 or 9 puffs in each tube! Makes a great present but I wish I'd known how little was in them. Not something you'd get just to have in your purse for chocolate cravings, unfortunately.
I feel very let down by this Le Whif. My mum tried the raspberry and couldn't get any flavour out of it at all, so I can only assume this one was faulty. I then tried the chocolate one and all I got was a vague bitter chocolate taste, it was a very dry gritty powder. My fiance tried the mint one and the look on his face said it all! I'm not impressed.
I tried this Le Whif and I don't like it, the chocolate is bitter and you miss the sensation of real chocolate. It is basically like breathing in cocoa powder. It's not magical, it is just powdered chocolate. All three of mine were used in 1 day and they last about 5 minutes. I do not believe that these would last for 8 breaths, they only just last one. It is just powder that dries out your mouth.
L'amore le whif
I'm in love with these Le Whifs! I'm trying to cut down on junk food for a friends wedding and knowing I have these little fun delights in my bag has cut down my junk food bills a lot. I don't have to buy a couple of bars or biscuits as I always have my Le Whifs in my bag, and they really do give you that little satisfaction. I'd recommend these to anyone!
Disappointing - Smells like chocolate tastes like dust
I saw these on a TV show and so decided to buy. The service from the website was fine, the item arrived promptly. Then the disappointment started. My wife and I tried all three and found then rather unpleasant, rather dusty and tasting nothing like chocolate. They were also a bit gritty and we found the dust got everywhere. The best one was the ChocRaspberry. I couldn't really detect any mint in the MintChoc. I won't be buying them again and these certainly are not the future.
Chocolate replacement scheme!
These Le Whifs are very funny to look at, they reminded me of those candy whistles we had as kids. Anyway after buying elites for my dad to give up cigarettes, I bought these to give up chocolate! Don't inhale it like an asthma inhaler like I did as it tastes like you've just shoveled 3 teaspoons of hot chocolate into your mouth, just breathe gently in and feel the chocolate hit the spot! Not sure whether I will ever give up chocolate completely but these will help in times of need. Especially when the shops are shut or more likely when I'm too idle to go out and buy some chocolate!
My New Year's resolution for 2012 was to lose weight (again) but I'm a chocoholic. A friend told me about these nifty little things, so I thought I'd give them a go. The raspberry flavour is my favourite, you can feel it tingle and coat the teeth and tongue in the same way eating a whole slab does. It's a great idea and it's really help me cut down. I'll definitely be buying again!
