Small but full of technology
An accelerometer and gyroscope inside the Rolling Spider measure and analyse its every movement, while the automatic pilot mode corrects Rolling Spider's angle and position.
The vertical camera takes pictures of a set point on the ground every 16 milliseconds; each photo is then compared to the previous one in order to determine Rolling Spider's speed.
Free FreeFlight 3 App
Rolling Spider offers tactile, super-intuitive driving control thanks to Bluetooth Smart technology and the FreeFlight 3 application. FreeFlight 3 is compatible with Bluetooth Smart compatible iOS and Android Smartphones and tablets and will be available on Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 in October 2014. This application offers a control range of up to 20 metres/65 ft. and is also used to pilot MiniDrone Jumping Sumo.

Battery life
A removable Lithium-Polymer battery provides up to 8-minutes of flying time (6 minutes with wheels). The battery is also compatible with MiniDrone Jumping Sumo.

Generally very pleased,only downside being 8 mins.of flying time before hour and a half battery re-charge
Cool mini drone
Amazing that such a small drone with a modest price, can effectively take off and land itself, making it infinitely easier to fly indoors and out. Sadly I couldn't get the ceiling wheel to attach, so if I fly it too high indoors it hits the ceiling and drops like a brick. No slow landing in this event. It gives a tremendous down draft, so if your flying it in the house be sure to clear any important paperwork off your coffee table. On a brighter not, if I can get a longer lasting battery, I'm going to use this as a cooling fan in the summer. I'll get it to hover over my chair and provide a cooling effect.
Great
For the cost this is a great item, excellent way to introduce yourself to drones. Easy to fly and operate. Beware though you need to flash the drone with an update first and the app name has changed so the in-box instructions are understandably a bit dated. After that it works a treat. Although a manufacturer refurb, tbh it looks absolutely brand new to me. Recommended. Makes a nice gift too. So get a couple if you can. PS. Although the Parrot case for this drone is available elsewhere and I expect is a hight quality product too, it costs almost as much as this excellently priced refurb and so seems disproportionately expensive for your "budget intro drone". You're as well shopping around for a 20cm diameter EVA headphone case which can be had for a couple of quid in the usual big online retailers fits just as well.
magic
I ordered and received before the given delivery date, the parrot mini drone. it is a present for my husband and he's delighted with it. We have the most magic pictures from Christmas day from inside our home. There are magic pictures of the dogs chasing the drone and relations who at the end of the day were a bit tired, so lay down on the floor! , these photos are hilarious and for private viewing only! I would highly recommend this product as we are only starting to get hours of fun out of it. Only observation, not a criticism, you do not get very long play time with it, but as long as your charger is handy, there shouldn't be a problem. I have bought several items from IWOOT and have been enthralled with all of them. Magic!
