Youll choose from three spectacular castles across the UK for this delightful dining experience youll never forget. Each location has been selected for its beautiful grounds, breathtaking views, and unique setting in which to enjoy either a cream tea or a full afternoon tea (depending on location). Some feature sun terraces and cosy lounges with roaring fires, while others are perfect for a more formal or romantic outing.

Whichever castle you choose, youll be sure to enjoy a delicious spread of afternoon treats including scrumptious scones with jam and cream served alongside your choice of freshly brewed tea. What happens on the day?

This experience entitles two people to an afternoon treat for two at one of the following castles (please note that the contents of each afternoon treat varies according to location, please contact the supplier for more details when making a booking):

Ruthin Castle - Wales
Legendary Ruthin Castle has been welcoming guests, including kings and queens, for several hundred years. Set amid acres of woods and parkland in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Ruthin Castle is a truly romantic hotel steeped in history. The castle dates back to the legend of King Arthur with notable owners including King Edward I, Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. The Library Bar and Cornwallis Lounge with its fabulous carved stone fireplace are ideal locations to enjoy your traditional afternoon tea. Or why not enjoy your tea al fresco on the adjoining Bar Terrace or in the Peacock Garden with views over the castle grounds in warmer months?

Lumley Castle - County Durham
Standing proud for more than 600 years, the magnificent spectacle of Lumley Castle dominates the County Durham landscape. Surrounded by beautiful parklands overlooking the River Wear and Durham County Cricket Ground, Lumley Castle is a magnificent monument to a bygone age of chivalry and honour. Youll enjoy a delicious spread of assorted finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and preserves, a selection of freshly baked cakes all served with a selection of fine teas and coffee. This can be enjoyed in either in the Library Bar or Black Knight Restaurant  both rooms are comfortable with features you would expect from a stunning 13th Century Castle.

Chiddingstone Castle - Kent

Set in 35 acres of beautiful grounds including a lake open to fishermen, a rose garden, and magnificent woodland, this glorious castle in Kent is an ideal venue to enjoy a cream tea for two before wandering around the historic site. Throughout the opening season, visitors can discover Samurai Warriors, Egyptian treasures and enjoy nature trails in the grounds. Youll enjoy your scrumptious cream tea for two, including two homemade scones, Cornish clotted cream and homemade jam each, with a choice of tea or coffee in the delightful vintage Tea Room, before entering the castle for a self-guided tour.

  • At all others under 18s must be accompanied by a paying adult
  • Disabled access varies depending on hotel chosen, please check when booking
  • The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary according to location

Availability

Availability varies according to location:

Ruthin Castle-seven days a week from 13.00 to 15.00
Lumley Castle- Mondays to Saturdays from 14.30 to 17.30
Chiddingtone Castle- Sundays to Wednesdays, April to October, from 11.00 to 17.00 (last entry 16.15)

We recommend you book at least two weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.

Please allow approximately 1 hour 30 minutes for your tea.

What about insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
