Who Invented LEGO?

With so many franchises and sets to choose from, it's easy to lose track of who invented them and when these inventive building blocks first appeared. Ole Kirk Kristiansen founded this iconic toy company in 1932, and subsequently, Ole and his colleagues produced the bricks that are still in use today. These plastic bricks were produced in 1947, which was not well appreciated at the time, but after two years, these plastic bricks became famous.

Ole was correct in his assessment that these bricks had limitless building possibilities! In addition to this history, we've often questioned, "What does LEGO mean?" This well-known brand is a play on words for the two Danish words "leg godt," which translates to "play well," which we certainly do with all of these sets.

How many LEGO sets are there?

Each year, the company releases roughly 900 new sets, with the intention of increasing the number of releases each year. It's no surprise that they've produced over 15,000 sets in total, according to the latest estimates.

Among the many releases is the opportunity to build LEGO Star Wars sets, such as a decked-out Imperial Light Cruiser with your very own Baby Yoda or a Darth Vader Helmet kit for those who feel drawn to the dark side. Build your own Minecraft Treehouse or go right into the action with the Marvel Avengers Endgame final showdown. You can even immerse yourself in the magic with our Harry Potter kits, such as the Chamber of Secrets (but don't tell anyone) or build the Hogwarts Express to create your own adventure.

A Kit for Every Age

We have a number of sets available for children to play with, but keep an eye out for stray bricks on the floor!
