Christmas bells were ringing early this year here at IWOOT! On Saturday the 14th of November, we invited a group of 16 bloggers to join us for a lovely afternoon of Christmas gift browsing, pug racing and cupcake eating at Manchester’s Ziferblat!
Our friends from Preloved recommended the venue to us and we couldn’t have gone to a better place to hide from the Manchester rain and horrible traffic that afternoon (sorry for everyone who had to go through that!). Ziferblat is mysteriously hidden on the first floor of an office block on Edge Street. You ring the bell and someone buzzes you in. Its interior looks like a cosy living room you really want to hang out at all day to play board games and listen to records. The best thing about it is… this is exactly what you’re encouraged to do! You pay for the time you spend there rather than for any snacks or drinks (they’re totally free)!
Our event was held in the classroom of Ziferblat that we temporarily transformed into a tiny Christmas wonderland, complete with a Christmas tree, glitter and loads of fairy lights. Upon entering, everyone was greeted with a booming playlist of all of our personal favourite Christmas guilty pleasures (Wham! Wham!). We invited people to take a look at our hand-picked selection of IWOOT Christmas gifts, ranging from quirky mugs and Nessie spoons to Lomography film cameras and the big almighty 3Doodler pen. In the meantime, the cute little BB-8 droid from the new Star Wars film was there to keep an eye on it all.
Because we wanted everyone to truly get into the Christmas spirit, we (or ehm… Santa) put some little stocking fillers under the Christmas tree that people were encouraged to wrap for their chosen Secret Santa. We hope everyone was pleasantly surprised with what they got!
To say thank you to everyone who turned up, there was loads of stuff to win. We ran a little competition where the best selfie of the evening won a set of Scrabble lights (thanks, Holly!), and if you let us know what your favourite product was, there was a chance to win a Smartphone Projector (congrats, Jessica & Jen!). Moreover, there was the opportunity for everyone to decorate their own Mason Jar, one of the best-selling kitchenware products on IWOOT. Everyone got their primary school crafting skills on messing with glitter, glue and gems, and the results were amazing, getting us really into the festive mood! Leanne, we hope you enjoyed winning the Cloud Storage for your DIY talent!
All in all, we want to say a big thank you to everyone who attended! We really enjoyed meeting you all and we appreciate you making time to come down from places as far as London! Check out the pictures from our event on our Facebook page and keep an eye on Twitter for more #IWOOTXMAS updates!
