Which Mini Helicopter?
Now we have a fleet of mini helicopters (if fleet is the right collective?), we thought it would be helpful to explain why they differ, so you can pick the right one for you – which you simply must do as life without a mini helicopter is almost too unbearable to contemplate.
Picoo Z X Rotor Micro Helicopter.
The simplest, toughest and cheapest of the fleet (and with the most inexplicably long name), the Picoo Z is a great beginners chopper. It has no forward or backward control, but is fun to fly straight from the box and is a very good way of learning how to control torque (the side to side swing of a helicopter). It's absurdly robust, and what you lack in control, you gain in it's ability to take the inevitable knocks of a novice flier. It's great for kids, and for those people who really can't be bothered to read the instructions or grapple with learning how to fly a helicopter.
BladeRunner Mini.
The Mini version of the original BladeRunner, it's more expensive than the PicooZ, looks more like a traditional helicopter and has greater manoeuvrability. Complete with landing skids, and dual counter-rotating rotors for stability, it's as easy to fly as the Picoo, but comes with the added feature of constant forward motion. This means that whenever airbourne, the helicopter moves forwards, so all you have to do it control the its direction and its altitude as you fly it around. The BladeRunner mini comes with a little green man that (with sufficient practice) you can swoop down and 'rescue', picking him up on the choppers skids to fly him off to safety – that's if you don't crash first. Great for people who want a little more control and skill factor, without it being over-complicate to fly.
The Micro Mosquito.
At just 20cm long, this bug-like marvel is the highest spec and most functional of the fleet. Looking distinctly mosquito like with its two bright green LED 'eyes', the Micro Mosquito has full helicopter manoeverability, and hence require more commitment and skill. It's still very easy to get airbourne, and its digitally proportioned control allows for very precise flying. You have full control of lift (beautifully measured take-off and landing), torque and forward and backward motion, making this the most fun of all of them to fly, but being a precision machine it's designed for adults who want to learn to fly properly, not for over-enthusiastic children who want to smash stuff up!
