Colonel Sanders (the original recipe chicken bloke) once placed a curse on a Japanese baseball team, the Hanshin Tigers, after fans treatment of a storefront Colonel statue. In 1985, the Tigers won the Japan Championship series. Fans gathered at a bridge, and yelled the names of the players while fans resembling the players jumped off the bridge one by one. When it came to the player Randy Bass, a Colonel Sanders statue was thrown into the canal (as both the Colonel and Bass are non-Japanese and have beards). Following this, the Tigers had an 18 year losing streak known as the "Curse of the Colonel". During this time, the canal was even drained to find the statue to appease the Colonel, but it was never found. Thus the curse remains and the Hanshin Tigers are still rubbish.
