The LEGO City: Advent Calendar (4428) is really cool, my 8 year old thinks it's so much better than a traditional advent calendar. A little pricey though.
Great gift to keep them interested
I bought the LEGO City: Advent Calendar (4428) last year and my (then) 5 year old loved it. He was able to build something different everyday and play with the set as it built up. He still plays with it and loved Santa and the jet skis. This year's looks quite similar, albeit a fire theme rather than police, but I think he will still get a lot of enjoyment from it. My only complaint is the cost, a little expensive.
Lego City Advent Calendar 2012
For us, the LEGO City: Advent Calendar has been part of the build up to Christmas for the last few years. My children love it and prefer it to a chocolate one.
It's expensive but...
The LEGO City: Advent Calendar is quite expensive but it was the best price I could find. It's an excellent idea though - my son always enjoys it! He hasn't opened it yet but it's not December so he risks the chance of getting on Santa's "Bad" list if he does.

1st Startto the Christmas Treats
My 9 year old daughter is a LEGO fan, and this LEGO City: Advent Calendar (4428) is a great starter to her Christmas treats. It is better value than chocolate, and she will receive a treat everyday in the lead up to Christmas. When Christmas is over, she will still get to use the LEGO pieces. Fantastic value and ideal for any LEGO fan.
Great start for Christmas
I bought this for my 9 year old daughter, she loved Lego and last year got so excited every morning, the suspense of opening the box and building, some of the boxes are parts and they are built in over a few days, this is great value for money and good for you child instead of chocolate. I select this one, as you can build Santa and other city characters/vehicles etc. this will then blend in with her per Lego, so it won't be wasted. Great value for money
