Grow Your Own Venus Fly Trap, no we're not kidding. There are very few examples of veg being able to get its own back against all of us fauna, and the Venus Fly Trap is probably the most famous. It may seem strange that of all the meat a Venus Fly Trap chooses to eat, it picks flies, yuk, still we guess they're easy to catch. You don't often see a plant bringing down a bounding gazelle now do you - even if they do taste better.
Their natural home is South Carolina in the USA, and they can be a challenging plant to grow indoors as conditions must be as close as possible to their natural habitat (mossy and marshy surroundings), in order for the plant to thrive. The kit comes with a mini plant pot, seeds, a compost pellet, and of course detailed instruction on how to raise your seed into a fully fledged carnivorous plant.

I think this is an absolutely fabulous idea - I really really really want one of those!!!

Some seeds. A few weeks. A plant. A fly. No fly. Everyone wants one, don't they? It's a plant that eats that annoying buzzing noise in the room and entertains you at the same time while all it's doing is surviving. Why not? Please note; it does need watering, after all you should repay it somehow.

These are great. Every home and workplace should have one. But don't feed them Frazzles or pencil shavings or they will die.

I received this a Christmas present and although I am 26, I thought it was really cool. I have had a lot of fun trying to find flies to feed it. Yuk! A great gift which you can look after and tend to no matter what your age.

I had one of these at Uni and bought another yesterday. They are awesome, not only do they eat flies, but bits of cooked ham. The best thing to do is to chuck a moth inside, quality fun (albeit a bit sadistic)... I bought another the other day though!

Do not feed it bacon or steak or meat. Just flies. It will kill the plant.
