MONOPOLY® began it's life way back in 1935, when you could buy a house in Mayfair for a farthing and chim chimmeny sweeps burst into spontaneous dance routines on the roofs of Kensington. Nowadays with properties on the market for more than the GDP of Guadeloupe, Monopoly has had to up its game, and has surged into the 21st Century with this brand new 'Here & Now Chip & Pin' Edition.
Jazzed up with contemporary streets and properties, condos and tower blocks, die cast metal roller blades, mobile phone and skateboard playing pieces, and the piece de resistance, a Chip & Pin terminal so you can play the game with credit cards instead of cash - it's pretty hard to buy a property for millions of pounds with folding money after all. Each player now gets a credit card instead of cash, and the Chip & Pin terminal lets you load the card up with cash, transfer it from player to player, pay fines and buy and trade property. The only thing it's hard to do now is bribe people under the table with a few notes! This new edition is a stroke of genius, and lifts the traditional game to a whole new level.
Interesting if slightly stupid Monopoly facts: The longest games played in daft places are, in a tree-house 286 hours, underground 100 hours, in a bathtub 99 hours, and upside-down 36 hours. The longest MONOPOLY® game ever played was 1,680 hours long. That is 70 straight days!
