Boules, possibly the best thing to come out France (apart from the cheese and wine of course, and Vanessa Paradis at a stretch), is a game requiring a civilised lack of exertion. This mini set of Carpet Boules lets you indulge at home when the weather isn't being very Cote D'Azur like, and has the added advantage of keeping you even closer to your wine rack. The set includes six stainless steel boules, a cochonnet (the mini ball you have to aim at), and a distance gauge to avoid the inevitable arguments. It all comes packed in a neat little metal tube so it's perfect for travel too. As French as camembert, but with a considerably longer shelf life, Boules may be a fairly sedentary game, but boy does it engender a lot of shouting oh la la, mon dieu, and quite possibly bugger.
