Whenever you're in the great outdoors (or if you often battle with your fireplace), just reach for your Firesteel and you'll never need - or want to use, frankly - a lighter or matches ever again. Working even in the wet or cold, a slow and easy 'strike' across this magic little steel produces a huge spark up to 3,000°C! We couldn't believe how much spark this little marvel put out - it's a much brighter spark than anyone round here, that's for sure.

I bought one of these about 2 weeks ago, and it is the most useful and handy thing I have ever bought in my life. You can start a fire with almost anything. I went camping with this and I didn't use one match or lighter to start a fire - it was all the Fire Starter. A MUST BUY!!

Have you ever been in the situation where you've gone camping and found that the only box of matches is damp, the nearest petrol station or shop is five miles away and you can't be bothered to drive there? Wow... this is cool, I bought this for my husband for christmas... but when it arrived I could not resist opening it for a play!
we live out in the sticks and have an open log fire in our living and dining rooms, we use them both on a daily basis. This is great as it lights the fire and eradicates the need to have 10 boxes of matches kicking around the house! It is also a great talking point for visitors, you go to light your open fire... "whats that?!?" Santa watch out this year... The fire is on!!!

I love ray mears, so I got one, attached it to my bag, and forgot about it. Later on that year I went on a fishing trip, it rained and we were freezing at night and miserable, we tried to build a fire using soggy matches to no avail. Well, what can i say!!! An all round smashing wee gadget. The knife is RAZOR sharp, the LED light is powerful for its size and the fire steel is superb! Firesteel's are awesome devices, they produce roaring hot sparks that can be used to light a gas cooker (or gas camp stove) handy to have to light the barbecue or fire when camping! awesome tool!

Stop rubbing sticks together to build a fire, this small steel is easy to use and lights a fire in no time. A present bought for an outdoors uncle ended up with the whole family outside making fire on Christmas day. Fun for all the family. Just be safe with it.

As a military enthusiast, and an "outdoorsy" person myself, I can tell you that firesteel is useful in many situations when lighters wont do, and I keep mine in the bottom of my bag as part of a survival kit, but for those of you who cant get it to light anything, a tip, get cotton wool, and put some petroleum jelly on top, try and light and its a hell of allot easier. try and store some in a Ziploc as part of an emergency kit, or even just cotton alone, or buy Maya dust (but I prefer cotton, never got Maya dust to light)

I own one of these and I love the technique of survival and, yes, no survival kit is complete without one of these amazing, massive sparking fire steels. You can light a gas camping stove with it by aiming the spark at the gas outlet, and hey presto! Your stove is lit. I recommend using dryer fluff for lighting with your spark because you should get the fire going straight away and it's incredibly easy. And, if you can light a fire with one of these then it gives you a great feeling of accomplishment. So, I definitely would always recommend that you ordered one of these from Iwoot now.
