There is something inherently exciting about globes. It's not just the wonderfully strange names of far off places, but there's also nothing quite like spinning a globe and then jabbing a finger at it, imagining that one day you'll go there - unless of course you happen to hit Dagenham. Dream travelling aside, this beautifully detailed globe has a fabulous trick up its sleeve. When it gets dark, a light sensor transforms the globe from a map of the world to a magical and brightly illuminated map of the night sky. It shows 88 constellations all with their common names (far easier to remember), so not only is it fascinating and educational, it also makes a great nightlight. Beautiful by day and magical by night, the Glowing Globe is the neatest globe we've ever seen.

Everything I could have ever hoped for in a globe, I don't know about you but I love to pretend I'm a giant, nothing in my room is the actual size. Some people want the moon on a stick, well this is the earth and cosmos(including moon on a rotating spindle. So this was a present for my little brothers birthday, but I ended up giving him just a card. I am not that harsh usually, but he didn't DVD record the final BBC neighbors for me after a long day at the office, so I took his present not knowing how much I would enjoy it. At first I thought it was a normal spherical atlas, but then as day ebbed into yesterdays eternity, and night fell softly over my crib, it transformed, not into a good or bad gremlin, or even a trumpet playing wearwolf, but into a star laden football made of real stars, not the kind you see dancing on ice. The atoms in each square milimeter of mass present, have electrons and fundamental particles which could be really small stars and universes (based on certain quantum physics theories not concocted by Ian Rush). Even this globe is scaled down to a good level for my room, as the last universe didn't quite fit in my room, even when rolled up to its maximum recoil spiral fractal form. Have a miniature Michael Palin over for brunch, even eat your food off the former Yugoslavia, the possibilities are endless, yet only begin when you buy this transforming globe. (We're not entirely sure what this kind reviewer is on about, but he seems happy. Possibly too happy? Ed.)
