Awesomeness

Description

The Glow Brick has to be the next best thing to remote-controlled lighting. In fact, we'll stick our neck out and say that it's even better, because you don't have to lift a finger to switch it on.

A strangely lovely phosphorescent green light bulb is entombed in a clear acrylic brick, which lounges about by day, quietly soaking up solar energy, then takes centre stage by night.

At dusk, the light starts glowing all green and mysterious, showing an awesome staying power throughout the darkest hours. The overall effect is of a disembodied shining light bulb suspended in mid air, which, you'd have to agree, is not something you see every day.

On a functional level, it makes a handy, low-maintenance security light. On a frivolous level, it's a jolly nice talking piece for people who like to talk in dark rooms.

Glow-ish brick

As clear square blocks go this one is the nicest I have. It looks good during the day, which is great because I was slightly disappointed with its glowing power at night. From my experience this has to be in total darkness to really shine, as a decorative item i'm rarely in the room without a source of light such as the TV on. That said, as it looks pretty funky and gets plenty of comments anyway, the fact it glows somewhat in the near-dark is a bonus.

Not as pictured

Item is rather disappointing as no real glow when dark. More a glimmer which is hardly visable.

Fun purchase

Works better on brighter days and left where it can absorb the best light. Gives off an errie glow. The only drawback we can see is that it is very heavy if you want to post it as a gift.

Strange object

Doesn't glow as bright as picture, but maybe the lack of daylight at this time of year has something to do with it. Currently it gives off a mild spooky presence in the room.

Waiting to see

I can't tell you how it works yet as its a Christmas present but I can tell you how quick it arrived and in superb condition

Light too dim

Very nice to look at and touch, its light is very dim, not so strong as I thought it was, looking at the photo. I exposed it to the sunlight (in Rome, Italy) and it didn't work at all; so I exposed it to led lamp pointed directly at it, and it works.

bright spark

This looks fab at night - a funky ornament (for intellectual students?!?), and also doubles up as a Halloween prop and handy wire + battery free night light, that's not so bright as to keep people awake. By day it provides inspiration on the desktop, whilst holding down lecture notes in it's role of paperweight (it's solid) - genius!

Disappointing

The picture shown is very deceptive as it does not shine anywhere near as bright as this. Just a dim glow.
