Cast out your mobile phones (but keep the SIM card, it's quite important) and get ready for a new dawn in mobile technology. The sWap Watch has arrived.

For too long the mobile phone has dominated the landscape of techno communications, while the trusty watch was left alone on the bedside table, gathering dust while we, its selfish masters, galavanted from meeting to meeting, keeping time with our trusty pocket sized PDA's. The mobile phone heartlessly usurped the watch of its fundamental duties but the 'sWap Watch' is out for revenge and will not stop until the mobile phone has gone the way of the Sun Dial and the Dodo.

The tables have now been turned. The sWap Watch doesn't just double as a mobile phone - it's like having a multimedia centre strapped to your wrist, and all without the crushing shoulder strain.

Want to check your emails? Surf the internet? Listen to music? Take Pictures? Watch a movie? MAKE a movie? It does ALL of these. It's in danger of completely eradicating boredom, revolutionising every minute of your day into a potential fun zone. The next time you're stuck on the train you'll just need to check out the 1.5 inch screen on your wrist for an instant fix of entertainment that'll turn your commute into a pleasure cruise rather than a chore. The memory card slot allows you to insert a Micro SD card to upgrade the 512MB on board memory to a whopping 2GB. With all that memory you'll have no problem storing all the MP3s and movies you'd need for a short jaunt.

If you really get bored (and with this watch, it's hard to see how you could) you could even check the time (from one of the many different watch faces stored in it's memory) or make a phone call. The watch will accept most SIM cards, so upgrading is hassle free and making calls couldn't be simpler - just plug in the hands free kit and you're good to go. If you really want to go one step beyond and banish those pesky wires along with your mobile phone then you'll be ecstatic to hear that the watch is Bluetooth compatible. You won't even have to fork out for the headset as it's included in the package.

This may just be the last gadget you ever need to buy. The future has arrived and it's a wristwatch.

The sWaP Mobile Phone Watch is an awesome product that deserves the gadget of the year award for the next 5 years and more. I was blown away with it. I put in my sim card, listen to music and watch a movie. I even made a video and took pictures discreetly. It is so entertaining.

my review of the sWap watch!

My dad has one of these amazing sWaP Mobile Phone Watches and it is a very decent watch which has tons of features packed inside. This mini wonder has a good quality camera and an amazing touchscreen. The sWaP Watch is very light, comfortable and the calling facilities on it are very good. You can hear the person's voice on the other end of the line really clearly. Its other features include MP3 playback (also some other formats) and video playback. Overall, I think the sWaP Watch is the best gadget ever and everyone should have one!

Great! If you know what to do.

I found the sWaP Mobile Phone Watch amazing at first, it's easy to use, it's very loud and very unique. However, there is no manual. Charge it for a full 10 hourse then it's should be fine. The watch works and does everything it says, it is the dream watch it claims to be. It's completely worth every penny, if not more!

James Bond comes to the REAL world

I've had this watch since October last year, and it is absolutely BRILLIANT. It only has a 1 mp camera, but for sneaky pics and vid recordings, it works fine. Also has an audio recorder for those spur of the moment 'can i have a quick word' meetings with your boss. Convert your favourite movies to 3gp format (using your own software) and watch them at your leisure - on the bus, at home, at work. The mp3 player is crystal clear. Absoluetly fantastic! When using the phone feature eople sit up and take notice, whether you are using the built in handsfree speakerphone, wireless bluetooth headset or wired handsfree headset. Oh, and on top of all that, it actually tells the time too. :-)

Faulty bluetoorh

The bluetooth headset was not a single piece as shown in the picture ( since removed by iwoot following my contact ) However the one supplied did not work. Would not charge either from USB or mains. Decided not to return the watch ( which works ) but take the hit of buying a separate headset as the recipient is leaving the country in two days. Otherwise he loves it.

Incorrect Description

The bluetooth handsfree on the sWaP Mobile Phone Watch was not the single earpiece shown in the pictures, but a two piece clip-on microphone and wired earphones arrangement. Worse than that it didn't work. Would not charge either from mains or USB, I had to buy separate unit. Otherwise, I liked the product.

Technology for the aged?

Technology for the aged? Let's start with an upbeat tone because I'm always the optimist in life, honest! The build quality of the watch feels extremely solid, everything fits properly there's no gaps or play in the body of the device. The strap is well engineered and even comes with 2 extra pins for the links, an extra link if you have monumentally huge wrists and 2 extra pins for the anchor to the device itself (as many people will be aware these kinds of pins break very easily if you snag a watch on something, it's a health and safety thing!). It is a little on the chunky side for a watch but undeniably acceptable for the average male wrist or above, although I would urge caution to the smaller built among us and children as the size and weight could cause irritation if it bangs against the wrist (Something I had at the end of the first day, until I'd adjusted the strap). All in all you're only likely to break it by impacting the screen directly, so avoid batting into the edge of tables and desks and you should be AOK The camera placement could be considered awkward if you wear a watch on your right wrist, however I, like most I imagine, wear on the left and so it's ideally placed for your James Bond antics. The picture quality is nothing special and weighs in far below many of the modern mobile phones, but it'll suffice for a quick snap or video clip to wow your friends (more on that later). Battery life has been fairly impressive, generally taking several days to need a recharge under a mixed cycle of just using it as a timepiece, playing music and fairly light phone usage. Once it does need a recharge, hook it up via the usb on your computer or via the provided AC -> USB adaptor and it'll charge up extremely quickly. You can even use it while it is charging or even acting as usb mass storage which is rare even on full fledged mobiles in my experience. The inbuilt loudspeaker is exactly that, loud. You will have no trouble hearing music or calls when you activate it, although at maximum volume it will distort noticeably but not horrendously on music. The software... Well, it works and it has shown little sign of locking up or major bugs, but you are likely to find the menu system slightly confusing at first, at least in the settings menus as I find the placement of many settings to be somewhat illogical to the names of the submenus. You might also find that the manual isn't going to help much. Although it starts readably it quickly descends into the age old style of writing that looks like it's been translated from one language to another by a third party that spoke neither. If any of you are top gear fans you may remember the likes of 'the level of embrouage' (My spelling may not be correct there, mind.) and as such you'd be prepared for some of the text inside this guide. One thing the manual completely neglects to tell you is the default "phone password" which you'll need to perform a 'restore default settings' (a recommended troubleshooting step, I'll note). I later obtained this code from sWaP's customer services email (it's 1122). And that brings me on to customer services... I will not say that they gave bad service, they gave me fairly prompt replies (I'd say very prompt but the first reply took 24 hours or so, the rest were literally minutes apart, but it was a weekend!), however it is simply impossible to get through to them by anything other than a generic email address. The only phone number you'll find if you dig is for some poor general receptionist who can only direct you back to the email address. She was extremely helpful and pleasant with me though, so I can't fault that at all. There was also little issue with getting them to accept a return (my device worked for a while but then produced an 'invalid SIM' error). Within a half hour of bouncing a few emails back and forth I'd already been given the name of a direct contact at their service center and the full postal address to return the device, however I have yet to return it as I have been too stuck at work to reach the post office. Now you may be wondering why the technology for the aged question as the title and the concept of wowing my friends has not been covered in any depth and that is because I am about to do that now. Everyone who has seen it has been astounded by the level of technology compressed into such a small device. Praise has included the clarity of the loudspeaker, the build quality of the watch, the flexibility of the device (number of features) and the usefulness of voice recording facilities on your wrist. So why the aged? Well this watch has even managed to appeal to an 81 year old neighbour. He also praised the clarity of the loudspeaker, interested in being able to walk around the house and garden with mp3s playing from his wrist. Immediately he saw the usefulness of voice recorders with such an extremely long length of recording time. Plus it's a phone you are unlikely to leave behind accidentally as you will generally keep it strapped to your wrist instead of putting it down or leaving it in a coat pocket. It just shows that technology can be worthwhile to all ages as long as you make it useful and convienient.

dont get it

the swap watch seemed like a good idea at first the lack of something constantly slipping out your pocket down the side of the sofa was a god send but to be quite honest it is rubbish thing the links in the strap are too large so a skinny like me has trouble sorting that out you either have it too loose or far too tight and the sound quality if you have it at full volume so that you can hear the person on the other end of the phone it sounds like you are about to blow the speakers so please for the love of all that is holy if you want a new phone just buy a new hand set it is cheaper it looks better and wont get damaged as easily.

Almost Perfect

The sWaP Mobile Phone Watch is awesome. One of my friends has it and it's almost faultless. It's definately comparable to a mid/high range phone. The only drawback is the lack of 3G.

swap watch

love this item, it has everything you want without loading down your pockets or handbag. The only thing I could fault it on is the instruction booklet.
