As a bike mechanic, I'm always happy when I receive bike-related gifts...except this time. Firstly, it really smells. Obviously, the cover is made of recycled bike tyres, so it will. But, it also makes your hands smell like cheap Chinese tyre whilst holding it, too, and when you're reading it, you're smelling it. Not something you want to say about a book. While the maintenance tips are useful, several of the diagrams are incorrect; drivetrain shown on the wrong side of the bike, cassette shown OUTSIDE of the frame (in the same diagram) in the Bike Anatomy section, the hub quick release is shown directly mounted to the axle in the Wheel Anatomy section; while many competition bikes have this axle feature, the majority of bikes sold use a hollow axle and separate quick release axle. These errors will be glaringly obvious to those familiar with bikes, but may well confuse those newer to cycling who are taking this book as fact. Between the map section and lined pages, ther'e are eight pages of diamond-lined pages - mystery. Luckies of London, who apparently designed this book - did you not give a draft copy to someone who knows bikes to read first? It feels like it was rushed to the printers.
