The SAS Survival Handbook was written by John 'Lofty' Wiseman who served in the SAS for 26 years. A real classic, this invaluable book is crammed with everything you need to know about surviving in the wild, in any climate, on land or sea.
The SAS Handbook is the Special Air Service's complete course in being prepared for any type of emergency. 'Lofty' talks you through real strategies for surviving in any type of situation, from accidents to escape procedures, including chemical and nuclear attacks, to successfully adapting to various climates (polar, tropical, desert), to identifying edible plants and creating a fire. Build a shelter, trap a fish, catch a passing crocodile, find water in the desert, read the stars for navigation, even know which wild mushrooms are ok to eat.

Who needs Bear Grylls...?
Who needs Bear Grylls, when you have a book like this?! Not me, that's for sure! Full of quirky little facts and diagrams, this is a must for those planning to get lost in the desert, forest, Arctic, or any other seemingly unhospitable place. Its dinky little size means it will easily fit in your pocket, handy for consulting when you're on your adventure. It has kept the other half and various male visitors amused. Let's hope some of the facts actually sink in... A great buy.

Excellent little Gem
At first I bought this as a joke, but once it came in the post I realised that there were lots of brilliant instructions and tips packed into this pocket sized book. Some other reviewers have commented on how much smaller the book was than they expected, but I think that this is excellent as I can take it with me and it will fit in my bag without taking up any space. Indeed, I am going on an expedition later this month and the 'SAS Survival Guide' will definitely be coming with me.

I bought two of them, one for my boyfriend because he is highly interested in training his survival skills and so this book"let" is a perfect match. He loves it. The otherone was given to my best friend - she is going on mongolian rally for charity and she has to travel through several countries - this book is the best friend for everyone who goes on a dangerous journey. Hmmm...
Not As Big As I Thought It Would Be! Bought It As A Present For Someone But Had To Buy Something Else To Go With It As It Is Too Small To Be Given As A Single Gift! Other Than That, It's Alright.

Great Secret Santa Buy!!
This is a fantastic little book - purchased for a 'secret santa' pressie, but obviously couldn't resist having a flip through! Brilliant for anyone who does a lot of travelling - some really useful hints, but also very funny. Tells you all sorts of things that I can't imagine anyone actually needing (such as how to skin and eat a tiger!) - should be a great talking point. Very pleased!!

Much smaller than you would think....
This book is great but it's more of a pocket book than an actual book. The product description is slightly misleading, however it is still a very helpful book and a great read.
