Great product...

Great invention and really is fool proof. Instructions of how to use it on the back of the packet the product come sin is simple and easy to follow. Very useful and definitely worth buying as it won't go to waste. It's something you want and you kind of do need as its hard to get eggs done the way we want them! Would reccomend...especially for the price its available for...it's a bargain!

I actually bought this about 2 years ago now from IWOOT, and it is an absolute godsend. I was appauling at boiling eggs before for the right amount of time, infact, i didnt even bother i was that hopeless. Works brilliantly. In response to the reviews below ( i was intrigued as to how the overall review for this product wasn't 5* so checked it out) I think the customers have either been exceptionally unlucky and purchased a dodgey one, or they are putting the egg timer and eggs into the water BEFORE it had started boiling, in which case it will NOT work properly!! Despite a slight discolouring of the egg timer (which is expected considering its been used every week for the last 2 years) it still works brilliantly. AND i have bought another for my mum! I wouldnt necessarily go by the bad reviews though, you always get more people leaving reviews who it didnt work out for than those that it did! I suggest try it, i think its WICKED!! It is obviously doing something right and working how it says on the box if IWOOT still stock 2years on from when i initially bought it! Ooo and the review about not being able to see it through the boiling water... dont put so much water in your pan so that you can see it??

Could well be the best thing I've ever bought...

My eggs are boiled to perfection. Just remember to keep it in the fridge if thats where you store your eggs so it's at the same temperature as them. I lost one of these years ago and went straight out looking for another as I have never found another egg timer that will beat it.

I bought the Foolproof Egg Timer for a friend who was going on a self-catering holiday but lived on toast due to zero cookery skills. Bored with his limited toppings of marmalade, peanut butter or marmite the FET just had to be the answer! This truly is a fab little foolproof gadget, and once he had followed the instructions (unusually, you put it into the pan at the time of adding the tap water - do not use icy cold or hot water - before you start to boil) and it's been an eggstravaganza of culinary delights ever since. Not convinced that it would work at all, he gave it a go and has now mastered the soft boiled and hard boiled varieties with the help of this nifty timer. Can't wait to see what he comes up with for Easter .... Thank you IWOOT x

best small kitchen gadget!!

i am sure i am not the only person out there who puts on an egg to boil in the morning and forgets to look at the clock to work out how long it's been on? sometimes i get sidetracked getting ready for work, sometimes i just lose all concept of time! but the foolproof egg times is my saviour!! i can now make boiled eggs to how i want them, and i dont even need a clock! also brilliant as i like my eggs runny so i can dip my toast, whereas my hubby likes his hard boiled so he can mash them in a cup and have with his toast - this means i can take mine out the pot when mine are 'soft', and he just waits another wee while until the timer tells him they are ready. totally brilliant! couldnt be easier to use, and its so small there is no issue with storage!! every house should have one!!!

I threw mine away after relying on it for a perfect soft boiled egg and constantly getting hard boiled eggs. I can't stand hard boiled eggs, nor wasting food. Ask Delia Smith how she does hers instead!

Couldnt help the pun sorry... Given as a gift to my bf as a chorus of how do you like your eggs in the morning? in our house normally ends with the reply there going to be rock hard no mater what we ask for... Hope comes in the foolproof egg timer, well my bf... a bit of a fool, took him a while to get used to it but it works a charm now... Perfect eggs everytime!

Like it says - Even a fool could cook an egg to perfection with this little gadget! I always used to overcook my eggs (I like my yolk runny) but with this eggtimer it really is fooolproof, perfect eggs every time!

Didn't work

We followed the instructions exactly but nothing happened for ages. By the time the egg started to change colour and indicated "soft", our eggs were totally hard and really dry. Very disappointing!
