NOT a Kobo
First, I must stress that despite being sold as a Kobo (the reason I bought it) IT IS NOT A KOBO. Instead, you can purchase books from Kobo! Having said that, here's what I think of it: PROs: - Small without making the words too small to read. - Has a backlight for reading in poor light. This means you don't have to cart along a separate light - very handy, Plus, the level of the backlight can be changed. - Display is colour. - Works with Calibre. - Ability to change font size. - Has the ability to create bookmarks rather easily - I create one after each chapter to make sure I can get back to where I was. There have been times when I think the SLICK has lost track of where I was when I turned off. The bookmark system seems infallible, however, if a bit difficult to figure out at first. CONs: - Because of the backlight the battery does not last as long as other E-Readers (I don't know about E-Readers with backlights). Expect to recharge after every one or two sessions if they are of any decent duration. - Limited software for organising books (into libraries, sub-libraries, etc). - No Wi-Fi so all transfers must be via the USB link. - No way to change fonts - I'm not sure how it treats imbedded fonts! - No search or dictionary capability. - The instructions are weak. Overall a pretty good E-Reader once you get past the conveniences offered by more sophisticated ones. In fact I've just ordered another one for my wife.
