Very poor detail capture

I bought one of these Veho Slide and Negative Scanner for 35mm and 110mm Instamatic Negatives to scan a lot of slides. The scanned images were really poor. It failed to capture the faces of people, although the slides were superb and originally taken by a professional photographer using top of the range equipment. I even tried different software, but it gave the same results. I guess it can be okay for family holidays stuff, but definitely not for high quality results!

Ab fab

I bought this slide scanner for my parents who have hundreds of slides taken in the 1950's and 1960's from when they first met and after having my brother and myself. I scanned all my own paper photographs to disc last year and now Dad would like to try and do the same with their slides. I'll let you know how he gets on! It looks great to me, I've offered to help him with this "indoor project" on the days when the weather is bad!

the past captured!

Bought this for my husband as his old family holiday slides were quietly disintegrating in the loft. He's spent many a happy hour downloading them - easily and efficiently - with this.

Magical

I bought this scanner for my Dad's 70th birthday and his eye's instantly lit up when he unwrapped it & couldn't wait to use it. It was easy to install, light and compact. Soon the slides were transformed from their home in a dusty box hidden away for years onto the screen in front of our very eyes. Magic and instant "Wow's" all round, bringing back memories of a good times gone by. Fantastic gift and totally addictive!!!

Brings back memories!

I lost some photos many years ago and a year ago I went to a photography shop with my 110mm negatives. The manager told me it would be impossible to get the images back and I should just "bin them". Lucky for me I didn't do that and after buying this scanner I have rediscovered my missing photos! A fabulous buy and it was so easy to use. A real bargain and a must-have gadget!

Fantastic present!

I bought this for my husband for Christmas, in order to try and nudge him into the 21st century, as I fear he might be the only living person who still takes slides. And he loves it! It is really easy to install and use, the software is excellent and allows you to play around with the images once you've uploaded them.

Great Christmas Present

Every year I always buy my parents presents from iwoot.com as I've moved away. When I saw this scanner, I trust iwoot.com and knew I didn't have to go off and research other scanners to ensure this one would do its job. This was a little more than what I wanted to spend on my dad, but I know my parents have boxes of slides and negatives in the loft and if I want copies of them, this is the way to get them! He's in his late 60's so this was the perfect project for him. He seems very happy with the scanner and has since emailed me dozens of pictures. I'm actually quite impressed. He did mention that he bought a cheaper one off Ebay before but it didn't work with some of his size of slides. Whatever that means! The only issue is some of the slides have aged and have black specks on them. The scanner doesn't lie. Looks like I"ll have to introduce them to Photoshop next....

Fab present for fab father-in-law

Was wracking my grey matter for the ideal Xmas gift for the best ever father-in-law. Voila....IWOOT truimphs again. Can't wait until Xmas day. Father-in-law will be delighted...and disappear off up the loft to find all his memories on slide and negative. Can't wait to see my husband's embarrassing childhood photos too. Thanks again IWOOT.

Loving 3D Hangman!

I bought this for my niece and nephew to share so that they could develop their literacy skills, but I didn't count on how much it would make them laugh to build their own hangman! Thanks IWOOT, I recommended you to everyone in our staff room and now no-one wants to go and teach, they just sit and browse your website!

Very good for the price

Having researched scanners in order to revive all those boxes of old slides in the top of the wardrobe, I knew this was about the cheapest and had seen some very mixed reviews of it. It does look flimsy and one needs to be careful in opening and closing the slide holder so as not to break it. However, the software loaded fine (Vista) and it really is 'idiot-proof' in use, so ideal for the average punter who just wants to see their past coming to life again, rather than the very picky professional. Obviously nothing can match the detail and sense of 'being there' you get when you project slides onto the big screen and it's sad to lose that but how often will you do that? You can choose varying qualities of picture so there is some element of choice; I was quite happy with the results, seeing images I hadn't seen for 30 years and look forward to using Windows Moviemaker to turn them into shows with added music. If you have hundreds of slides it will be a fairly slow process but it does make you chuck out the duff ones and keep the best! You can spend thousands on a scanner if you really want to but this does the job.
