Whilst the new R2 appears similar to its forerunners, through painstaking design, it has evolved so virtually everything about it is new. Notably it incorporates technology which allows you to access your own music and broadcasts and discover new music in a variety of convenient ways.

The new R2 is undoubtedly a technological tour-de-force and one of the most desirable compact music systems available, but what makes the new R2 really special is its sound! • With DAB/FM and Internet Radio tuners built in, the new R2 is capable of receiving radio stations globally and with DAB+ also included, the new R2 can be used in countries such as Australia and Germany where this updated format is now being used. DAB+ also ensures that the new R2 is ready for additional stations in the UK, which are planned for 2015.

• The new R2 features aptX® audio technology that partners with Bluetooth® so you can stream directly from compatible devices to R2 with audio quality virtually indistinguishable from a wired connection. An increasing number of devices are now available with aptX®, but with or without, sound quality over Bluetooth with R2 is impressive.
• On the rear panel you’ll find a pair of high quality phono sockets for the second switchable line input. These sockets are ideal for connection to the audio/headphone output of most flat panel TVs and played through the new R2 you’ll notice a radical improvement in sound quality, making films and viewing all the more enjoyable.
• Also on the rear panel is a multi-use USB socket. At its simplest, it’s a charging port so you can conveniently charge your smartphone, but moreover it’s also a playback port which allows you to connect a USB memory stick or portable hard drive loaded with your favourite music.
• The new R2 will make any bedroom look and sound better and with customisable twin alarms you’ll be woken from your slumbers with quality sound exactly how and when you want. Also included is an adjustable snooze and sleep timer so you can doze in a similar fashion.
