Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay A3 Dock for iPad - Black (Not Compatible with iPad Retina or iPad Air)
BeoPlay A3 is an iPad speaker frame that offers a brilliant sound experience. The stylish design is sculpted to blend perfectly with the iPad's minimal aesthetic, and the flexible shape adds to the user experience. Portable and easy to move, the A3 dock can be used anytime, anywhere.
Enhance the iPad's sound performance, so you can really hear your music, films or TV series. BeoPlay A3 features Adaptive Stereo Orientation that changes the sound stage to suit the position of your iPad, whether it's in vertical or horizontal orientation, stood up or lying down. Three tweeters and bass are positioned in the corners to give an almost field sound experience for solo or group use.
Fit your iPad in the correct bumper, slot the iPad in BeoPlay A3 and you're ready to start. With no complex setup required, you only need to know how to use your iPad and you're good to go. The buttons on your iPad for standby, volume adjustment and battery indication are placed on the thin edge, ready to be used regardless of how the BeoPlay is placed.
Designed by Steffen Schmelling, the BeoPlay A3 is unlike traditional docking devices as it surrounds the iPad instead of just docking it. The sculptured shape adds to the versatility of the iPad. Every surface of the A3 is durable and comfortable to hold, plus it's finished with a decorative aluminium profile.
The Beoplay A3 is the perfect place to dock your iPad as it's so easy to move. Its rechargeable battery pack offers up to 7 hours of playback with normal use. Connect it to the mains and the power supply will charge both the iPad and BeoPlay A3. The Beoplay A3 is also supplied with UK, US, Europe and Australia plug adaptors.

The item looks stylish as you would expect from B&O. However, I found it difficult to assemble initially with very limited instructions. It took as young friend who is more computer -savvy than me to get it to work. The mounting at the base involving pushing a switch on the back home requires more forceful pressure than I am accustomed to using for electronic equipment, and I was concerned that I might be damaging the multiplug of my ipad by forcing it. Also, although it is now functioning as a mini-TV with good sound, the Ipad doesn't charge while mounted in the device, one of the main reasons for buying it. It is quite unstable as others have commented, again, somewhat surprising from the designers at B&O. I suppose I was expecting a more substantial product along the lines of a B&O Ipod speaker we got my daughter several years ago, which charges the Ipod while delivering amazing sound.
Bought this on special offer and it is superb, well worth full price so an absolute gem when on sale! iPad docks easily and you download an app to use it. The sound quality is amazing, better than my stereo, which is now confined to the attic and this will be my music system from now on! I would like to know where you can get additional rubber cases that you need to enable the iPad to dock, we have two iPads in the house and changing over the rubber case is the hardest thing about using this system.
A lot of Bang (& Olufsen) for your buck
A budget B&O piece which has a very good sound and enhances the iPad very well indeed. A couple of slight niggles but well worth the cash.
Bang and Olufson BeoPlay A3 iPad Dock
Excellent sound system for my iPad, ideal for music and watching films... Very pleased with product.
Rally impressed by the quality and build. The sound is great. An extremely good price.
B&O Beoplay A3 dock
I love it. It's great as it can be charged up and used as a portable docking station I like the upright portrait position better than the flat position. It has a good sound and the only slight drawback is that it is sometimes hard to connect the ipad via the lock on the back.
Top drawer sound quality, great for travel to turn iPad into a little tv. Will fill a good sized room and has punchy bass. Downside is the design makes it very unstable so watch where you put it if you have kids.
I know B&O stuff was good, but this iPad dock really is something else! Having plugged the device in and having fitted the sleeve to my iPad, the sound produced was awesome. I would never have believed that so much base could come from such a thin docking station. The treble notes were also very crisp and the overall performance is truly impressive... and that's before I discovered that once it's charged, it will run equally well on battery power! I'm just looking forward to some decent weather so that I can use the Beoplay in the garden or out camping. A device that I can thoroughly recommend.
Good quality sound
I am pleased with the product but am disappointed that a more detailed manual didn't come with it as I had problems initially and didn't understand the standby light variations until I contacted B&O. I also still have problems in that I cannot use the B&O App on my iPad 2, which apparently on V7 s/ware is common.
