How big is your carbon footprint? Size 6? Size 11? Or are you a small industrial nation in your own living room? We're all waking up to the idea that we need to do our bit, but spending hours on our computers tapping away is not just burning the midnight oil, but also a lot of the real stuff. Well now we can all ease our respective consciences thanks to the kinetic brilliance of the Dynamo Keyboard. No longer will you be sapping the national grid of power and burning down small woods in Hampshire every time you write an email or post a blog. Simply by typing using the Kinetic Keyboard, you can power your computer using your fingers' energy. So even if you're accused of having a huge carbon footprint, you can proudly claim to have a very small carbon fingerprint. Cut down on your electricity bills and feel justifiably chuffed that you're doing your bit.

Features

  • Power your PC as you type with the Dynamo Green Keyboard.
  • As you type, the kinetic energy generated powers your PC.
  • No need for mains power as the kinetic energy is converted to electricity, saving your energy bills.
  • The keyboard is QWERTY.
  • No trees were burnt in the making of this product (though the odd sparrow may have been re-housed).
  • Made from sustainable plastic.
  • Conforms to all the standard standards.
  • Do not use if you are more than 6ft 2" or are lactose intolerant.
  • Suitable for green fingers.
  • Requires a USB port.
  • Size: 45 x 16 x 2cm.

Don't be a fool, remember the golden rule... CONSERVE ENERGY (SLEEP IN CLASS)
Joe King, Some place nice

Brill! But the Kenetic toothbrush is better. If you plug it in to the wall and use it twice a day it will create enough energy to light you whole house for the whole day!
Jean Stobo, Glasgow

The keys are little kluncky, but that is to be expected. A fantastic invention. My electricity bills have gone down to £0.
Cath, Wolverhampton

I have one of these when not using my computer I use it to charge my ipod by tap dancing on the key board. This off sets my carbon toe print!!!
Chris Morris, Leicester

I got this because like everyone else I care about my carbon fingerprint. I was concerned at first because I am lactose intolerant but it seemed to work just as a normal keyboard. It has also helped save 10 acres of rainforest using my green fingers.
Amanda, London

It's weird, I wasn't as impressed with the futuristic styling as I thought I would be, I found the picture alittle misleading. But in a strange twist of fate, as I typed a letter of complaint expressing my disdain, I managed to completely charge my G-wiz, good for at least 3 miles of eco friendly travel. Awesome! IWOOT rocks...
Andrew Ching, Worcester

This is a fantastic device. I have been using mine for a week, and I haven't had to use the wall sockets since!
Jim Steinman, Dundee

Fantastic idea! The extra energy used in powering it has led to me losing a few pounds and becoming more toned! When is the dynamic green mouse coming out?
Bob Humphries, London

Well, who'd have thought that that tiny amount of energy would be enough to power your whole PC. I would buy one of these but I can't today ;)
Tim, London

A brilliant idea, in all possible meanings of the word. Thanks so much for your super-fast delivery (before 12 noon the day of ordering?!!). Not only do the new keytboards power the PCs, the glow lights the office as well, saving even more power. Sorry, no pictures, we haven't yet convinced it to power a camera.
Jane Williams, Biggleswade, Beds

What a great product. I was fed up with having to fill my electric meter up with £1 coins every time i wanted to use my computer. What a difference this keyboard makes no more money in the meter. So now i've got money to spend on more gadgets, look out iwantoneofthose I?m coming shopping.
Daniel Weeks, Birmingham

Like every other environmental worrier i have often wondered if there was any way of harnessing my finger typing power to use for a greater good.... now i have found a way. Just by logging into my e-mail the power absorbed is enough to burn an 80-minute CD. You don?t get that from a solar panel! I have also found wiring it up to a pair of running shoes whilst i do a couple of miles on the ol' running machine generates enough energy to power all the houses on my street. Nice one IWOOT!
sophie, bromsgrove

Wow, I've ordered one of these as I spend so much time on the computer and I do worry about all the trees I am murdering along the way. Thanks IWOOT for making me feel better about being a sad geek!
Ms Gullible, Birmingham

This product is AMAZING! i run my entire house on it, who needs solar power ad wind power!
Chris Johnson, Aberdeen

Amazing! I've managed to power my PC for next to nothing thanks to this great offer from iWOOT. Now if you'll excuse me I have to back to Mavis Beacon typing tutor. If I stop typing my PC shuts down and I lose all my work :O
Dave, London

Already got one of these (as an early import), have to say that I've been VER impressed. I'm not going to claim that the savings are massive, but they're certainly noticeable :)
Rob, UK

I bought one of these and they are fantastic ! I was concerned though as I don't have green fingers, but it was just so easy to use. As I know that it is so environmentally sound, esp the sustainable plastic. I have recommended these to all of my friends who have also now bought them as they now no longer feel guilty about driving their 4x4s. Could you please let me know if the sparrow has been successfully rehoused ?
Trish, London

Wow! I have just placed an order for one, can't wait for it to arrive. Fortunately I am 6ft 1" so I should have no problem in using the keyboard. I love the fact that this meets all standard standards and that it is sourced from sustainable plastic what great reassurance, my only concern is that I am lactose intolerant, I plan to wear gloves to get round this, hopefully this will not affect the energy generating properties of the keyboard. If you want to do your bit for the environment, I recommend you make this a priority purchase!
Roy, UK

Amazing! At first I was a bit skeptical - I found it hard to believe, that I could power my PC by using the kinetic energy of typing alone but I figured that I type pretty fast, I might give it a shot. Not only did I power my PC, but while writing my history essay I powered the radio aswell! Amazing buy! I recommend it to anyone who is willing to go through a little effort to cut some electricity costs!
Andris, Riga

This is a truly ass-tounding keyboard. I'm all for green, and my electricity bill has reduced dramatically.
Simon Powers, Wednesbury

FANTASTIC product! Cannot rate it highly enough. Lowered my electricity bills from day 1!
April, London

Wow! This product is revolutionary, I have linked several of these keyboards together using a USB hub and am using it to power my TV! Being of a nervous disposition I am constantly drumming my fingers, so strategically placed keyboards on the arms of the sofa mean I can watch TV for free. I also have one of these in the floor on my hamster cage which works a treat - when Richard (the hamster) is up and about he can power his own lights, so I needn't worry about him bumping into things in the middle of the night anymore. The great thing about these keyboards is that the plastic used is sourced from sustainable Plastic shrubs (a relation of the Rubber tree). For every Plastic shrub that is harvested another 2 are planted and this should go some way to restoring the dwindling population in the jungle of its native Borneo. An interesting point to note about the keyboard is that certain letters create more power (you can monitor this on the on-screen "Greenometer). For example X and Q produce more power than vowels. So if your a dab hand at Scrabble you'll get even more benefit out of this amazing device.
Theresa Green, Leeds

I just spotted the date!
David Simpson, Coggeshall Essex

Fantastic. I have one of these and it's unbelievable. Great for the environment and better for your wallet. I leave a book on the spacebar overnight so although the PC is quite warm by the morning I feeding the national grid and we're now a carbon negative household! Yay!
Paddy, Andover

Gotta be an April Fool's - quite amusing IWOOT Team, I like your style :)
Gail, Dromore, Co. Down

absobloodylutely fantastic since the mines closed roud here and coa was outlawed we've been looking for a way to create new energy and now with this keyboard and a few of those drinking birds on a pivot we can produce enought leccy to power the bus shelter in abercwmbucket thanks guys, we couldn't see the drunks puking & pissing before now, you are stars now wheres my £50??
darren brooke, pontypridd

This is possibly the best purchase I have ever made - my extensive daily activity of writing meaningless emails and sending messages to friends via facebook (i.e. work) has proved to produce enough energy to provide our whole office with electricity... My boss is over the moon! Thank you IWOOT
Adam, Orpington

As a worker in the logging industry I wanted to reduce my carbon footprint. Now with this keyboard powering my laptop I can get the men to chop down 10 times as many tree's. Absolutely brilliant. The green glow it emits can also power a solar powered car for 2000 miles per 10 character word. This review will get me to Australia
Bod, Woodsville

Wow... amazing just what i need, can you answer me one question, does it attach via the PSU or usb?
Derek Wright , London

The Dynamo Green kyboard is the best one ever. I was struggling to think of a joke to play on my loved ones today, but this provided the perfect answer. I have forwarded it to everyone I know and at least seven people fell for it! Good one, IWOOT!
Beverley Kerry, Derby

I was not impressed with this product. I type 1m985 words a minute, and as a result, the power overload to my PC made it smoulder and I smelled burning. But I figured that all new keyboard smell a little strange at first, and carried on typing away merrily. The next thing I knew, my PV had sent such a surge of power down the modem, that the force overloaded and subsequently killed the Internet. I am now fighting several lawsuits from Bill Gates and half a dozen pop-up makers who are all losing revenue as a direct result of this keyboard. :0)
Martin Kerry, Derby

What an excellent product, you'll also find it helps you improve your typing speed tenfold... nothing like a flickering backlight and a struggling fan to force you to up that wpm count :)
Ross, Glasgow

What a fantastic product - I would dearly love to have one flown in from the country of manufacter and couriered to my door! So long as it will arrive before the end of the day 01/04/08
SneakyPete, Buckingham

I found it hard to keep my pc powered at work to begin with, then I went back to one of the classics like doom and started bashing away on keys. Now I look busy and I'm saving energy! PS Happy 1st of April :)
David Skinner, Aberdeen

Absolutely Awesome!!! Mine arrived this morning - I love the fact that it is so green - in more ways than one! It is going to save me loads of money! I was expecting the typing to be hard, but it's really easy. The only thing you have to be careful of is not typing for too long - the software provided lets you configure the power management though - so that your PC doesn't die when you go for lunch, or half-way through a film etc. I'm just thinking about ordering a few more - my Mum's got a birthday coming up - and I figured I could carry one in my laptop case so that I've always got enough battery to use my laptop on the train! Thanks IWOOT - lots more products like this one please!
Dave, London

Wow, this really is a cool idea. Only downside is that ive been using it for a few days now and my fingers and various other parts of my body have been turning green. This is a small price to pay for saving the planet. Get yours today
Aidan, Co. Antrim

It's Great. I've powered the oven with it and managed to get the sunday roast done in no time playing Daley Thompsons Decathlon on my Mame emulator.
Alex, Reading

A brilliant idea and one which means that, as a dedicated air piano player, I can now finally use my skill to save the world. The only down side is that because its made out of organic Fair Trade Yak cheese it does leave your fingers feeling a little bit greasy, but then the sense of enormous well being that you are 'doing your bit' whilst tapping away makes this slight drawback completely meaningless. Well done IWOOT!
Paul, Croydon

I'm a gullable git and I'll be ordering mine today!
David Vallance, Sheffield

What a great product. Thanks IWOOT.
David, Basingstoke

I've got 15 of these now. I attached them all to my treadmill and set it on fast and put my dog Snoop on it. Killed two birds with one stone. Powered my house and most of hampshire and walked the dog too !! Brilliant !!
Martin, Southampton

Fantastic product but I think I have a short circuit or have plugged it into the wrong socket because evry time Ihave music playing my fingers automatically tap in time.
wendy, yateley

Being only 5 feet 2 inches tall, I knew this was the keyboard for me. Life was always hard being mocked for my lack of height by my 6 foot 2 inches tall (and lactose intolerant) friends. This would be my revenge. I remember the day it arrived, as the green radiance shone in my eyes. I slowly lifted it onto the desk and called my friends, awaiting and anticipating their awe at the brilliance of which they were forbidden use. One by one they arrived, and one by one they left, each despondent by the deprivation they were forced to endure. They did not tease me again and my friendship with the Dynamo developed greatly. Now, I take 'D' with me everywhere, knowing that I'm doing the world a favour and no 6 foot 2 inches tall, lactose intolerant person can stop me. Definitely worth the sixty quid.
Alice, Bath

I bought one of these keyboards last week, and I'm using it right now to type this message, whilst charging my laptop and warming my coffee. IWOOT really hit the button here with the product (lol), which my whole family has since ordered and we all type random messages to each other, to combat the recent price increase in heating houses. However, I have just crossed the 6' 2" boundary at the age of 16, and the keyboard just doesn't light up anymore, and I seem to be unable to make it work. I suppose I'll have to wait until they bring out the Mk II, scheduled for next month, which features a new 6' 6" height limit. My brother is currently working on installing it in his Subaru, as we reckon we can save fuel as well. He tells me the gear change becomes a little sticky, but it does 0-60 0.3 of a second faster! Thankyou IWOOT for helping the nation- No more Polar Bears will ever have fear of drowning!!!
John Osmond King-Edge, Digestershire

DO NOT USE MORE THAN 1 OF THESE IN A ROOM! Seriously, i've got 2 computers in my room and when my and my wife were both typing on these keyboards, our hair started to stand on end!
Michael Belcher, Oxford

I loved this product... until the power short-circuited and electricity came out the keys... Not good.... You'll be hearing from my lawyer.
Gary - NSDesign, Glasgow

Brill idea, remind me of the date?
paul

What a great product. My husband is 6 foot 3" so he can no longer use the computer to play games. I get it all to myself and protect the environment at the same time so I don't feel guilty.
Elaine Kidd, Ayr

I showed this to my boss and he wants me to order at least six as a start, then see where we go from there. Can I have a bulk discount? If so how many do I need to order to get it? Anyone whos is concerned about the environment should be aware of this device, especially as its so nicely advertised on the 1st April...
Phill, Bridgwater

Yet again IWOOT is ahead of the game! A fabulous gadget - although I'm surprised your product description omits my particular favourite feature, ie the USB adapter which allows me to plug the kettle into my PC and boil enough water for 2 cups of tea with less than 5 minutes of typing (someone with a faster WPM could possibly achieve this in 3 minutes.) For the first time ever I am looking forward to receiving my electricity bill!
Sue, Poole
