Deep in the Bavarian mountains, British big-game hunter Captain Alan Thorndike (Walter Pidgeon) has set his sights on the biggest prize of all - Adolf Hitler. But just as he is about to pull the trigger, he is captured by Major Quive-Smith (George Sanders), a Gestapo leader who wants Thorndike to confess to being a hired British assassin. Knowing the political dangers a confession would bring, Thorndike refuses and is tortured to near death before he manages to escape. Soon the hunter becomes the prey as Thorndike, with the help of a beautiful street waif (Joan Bennett), uses his animal instincts to evade his captors while their very lives hang in the balance. - See more at: https://studiocanal.co.uk/Film/Details/d991a283-7813-4111-9604-9efd0110914b#sthash.1m4WrzkY.dpuf
