The Dr and the TARDIS arrive on Androzani Minor, the source of life-prolonging drug refined from a substance called spectrox. Production of the drug is controlled by Sharaz Jek, a self-imposed exile. Jak blames Morgus, a powerful industrialist on Androzani Major, for all his misfortunes. Whilst Jek is fighting government troops sent to liberate the drug, unknown to Jim, his weaponry is being supplied by Morgus in return for spectrox.
