DCI Janine Lewis, who is passionately committed to her work and family, is back after her maternity leave. She is still separated from wayward husband Pete and now with a newborn baby has four children to look after. she has a new live-in nanny on hand to help as she strives to balance the responsibilities of her pressured career with the demands of her home life.

Joe Tucker (Wire in the Blood, Dangerfield) returns as Janine's husband Pete.
