Description

Anyone who grew up in the 80s will tell you how cool the Duck Hunter video game was (especially when you got to use that garishly orange computer gun). Well now you can relive the fun in the noughties with Duck Hunter, the indoor flying duck hunt game. The game consists of an autonomous flying duck, complete with flapping wings (the technical term ornithopter) and an infra-red gun, complete with bullet sound effects - you can even cock it like a real hunting gun. The duck flies randomly around the room (how randomly depends on whether you've set it up for a straight or circular flight pattern) for up to 40 seconds or until you've shot it 3 times. It doesn't need mains power, so as long as you've got fresh batteries the Duck Hunter is good to go in as little as ten seconds- just connect it to the charging dock on the gun for a quick burst and you're ready to go hunting. It's all the fun of hunting in the comfort of your own home.

  • An ultra-light flying duck with flapping wings and an infra-red gun.
  • Shoot the duck 3 times with the infra-red gun and it will fall out of the sky.
  • A ten second charge will provide the duck with up to 40 seconds of flight time.
  • The duck's flight path can be adjusted.
  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
  • Requires 3 x AAA batteries (not included).
  • Suitable for ages 10 years +.

Size:

  • Duck: 23 x 30 x 4cm
  • Gun: 22 x 13 x 3 cm.

Good product, but doesn't really `hit home`

When I first looked at this product, it seemed the perfect gift. My first impression was `This would be a great way to play out the winter blues indoors, and would be great to play with in the summer holidays on a barbecue or the like`. So, I promptly ordered it. Thanks to the fine delivery service that IWOOT provide, it came to me promptly and with very little fuss. Couldn’t have asked for me, could’ve I? Well…if the newly single Cheryl Cole had delivered it, then it would’ve been even more perfect. However, when I first eagerly open the box, and took the product out of the packaging, I realised something. It is not really meant for the home. It appears that the ducks flight path is very aggressive and erratic. My room is fairly large, but no matter what I did, my duck would just zoom from one side of the room to the other, even with the turning circle on full (this is done by tilting the wings slightly). Also, if you were to have a room which can more than accommodate for the large turning circle, when you hit the duck, it falls around 1-2ft before flapping its wings again. This means that it’s prone to hitting chairs. So, unless you live in a grand manor (and if you did you’ll probably be shooting real ducks with very real guns) I’d avoid even attempting use indoors. Also, it should be added that, if the product isn’t FULLY charged i.e. more than the 10 seconds advised, the ducks wings flap slowly and the flight is pathetic. Hold it for as long as you can be bothered to. However, when you take it outside, the ducks is in its element. Like a duck to air, a fish to water, and even John Sergeant to a ballroom dance floor, it was all too easy and natural for the product to zoom around the sky, evading our infra-red bullets. This is where the addiction kicks in. I have spent many hours down the field near me playing with this duck with my friends and family, playing a variety of styles: - Sniper style; where the duck is flying around a good 20-30 metres away - Clay Pigeon style; where the ducks flight path is straight, and launched at random from behind you. - Blind style; I don’t need to explain this do I? It really does improve your hearing though! -There are more styles I formulated, but I'll leave the fun of making them up to you. However, one thing about this is that if the wind is too strong, the duck will be forced to ground; no matter what direction it is. This is the only fault of the outdoors. As you can see, I have had terrific fun with this product. All I can say is is that Duracell have been making a killing from me! I would post some videos of the styles that I have come up with, but my camera is faulty. I will resolve to post some pictures of the product itself soon, until then the ones available on the web will have to do. Also, if I can be bothered, I might, just might, make a video review. With the summer holidays coming up, it’ll make a fine addition to any barbecue or the like. If you don’t have one, get one! Despite the faults of the indoors, I’m still giving this product a 4/5. It deserves this at the very least. Roundup: Faults; Indoors is not really possible, needs to be charged much longer than stated, the wind grounds the bird. Positives: Great fun on any outdoor activity, a variety of styles keep it fresh, no ducks are harmed.

duck hunter expensive purchase

the infrared shooter worked very intermittenly, bad contact with battery and trigger. Very frustrating. When it worked, which was seldom, it was fun. Not worth the price, it was an expensive purchase for little fun.

Hmmm Short Fun Blast

If you want to feel like John Wayne at shooting this is the game for you - It's very easy to shoot the duck! Unfortunately it is a very short term game as the fun of picking the duck up and starting it again starts to wear thin after a short time. Bought it for my nephew (who at 27yrs is perhaps a liddle old!) who loved it for a whole 10 mins but it has now returned to the box. Not sure what I expected but wanted a little more for the cost.

Undecided....

I bought this for my boyfriend's Xmas present. Although the duck flies well we cant work out if we are hitting its target or if the duck simply stops flying as it runs out of power. Its also not really suitable for indoor use as its flight path is rather random so is prone to flying into things. Probably a better thing to mess around with on a sunny day in the park.

Just in time!! Thank you!!

The toy itself definitely would work better outside than inside. Either way, my 8 year old son wanted it for Xmas and thanks to Iwantoneofthose he got it!! It arrived just in time on xmas eve. Shipped very quickly and received very quickly. Duck flies and does come down with 3 shots. Seems to fly so fast though that it gets stuck on things in the house. recommend playing outside away from trees!! Transaction was great with IWOOT other than charging my account twice for same item.

Stupid request

I have no idea if this product is any good until I hear from the person whose xmas present it is. Looks good though! Came quickly and packaged well.

special fun for special people

I purchased this Duck hunter for a very special person, a young man who is permanently in a wheelchair and has limited movement accuracy with one of his hands. Most of his fun is on a computer where he can use joy sticks and buttons, but to help him develop his hand skills he needs some incentive and the duck hunter has done just that. A great little game which all can enjoy.

Duck Hunter, the perfect antidote to Swine Flu!

Flowers just dont cut the mustard when buying for poorly boys so I got out my trusty IWOOT for inspiration. Kept a bored and poorly chappy amused for hours whilst being shunned by all and sundry for having the swine lurgy.
