With love starting to fill the air and couples making plans and hunting around for the perfect Valentine’s gift idea, it can be easy to feel left out when you have no one to share the day with. However, February the 14th needn’t be a sad day and should be embraced by everyone. With that in mind, we here at IWOOT have thought up some ideas for all those singletons out there on how to make the most of the day.
Night in at the pictures
With the cinemas, restaurants and bars due to be filled up with loved up couples and Valentine’s paraphernalia, spending a night out on the town can seem uninviting. However, just because you are single, doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of all those Valentine’s offers out there! Why not pick up a blockbuster to enjoy for the evening, tucked up safely away at home. We perhaps wouldn’t suggest a romantic comedy like About Time, but a night in with a heartfelt comedy with great actors, like The Darjeeling Limited, a story of three brothers who embark on a journey together across India…a must see!
Day with the kids
If you have little ones to spend the day with then why not enjoy the day together in the kitchen making Valentine’s treats. Bake delicious I Love You cookies with a cool cookie stamper from and have a picnic in the park? Or maybe you could have an afternoon crafting making Valentine’s decorations and cards. Check out the Craft Crow blog for great craft ideas you can do with your children.
Pamper ticket for one please
Just because it’s Valentine’s day, doesn’t mean you should miss out being spoilt! Why not treat yourself to day out at the spa, or pick some luxurious bath soak and face masks and have a make shift spa day at home. Top off your day of relaxation with a mouth watering “pop in the oven” meal, indulging in some delicious chocolates and sweets for afters. Sounds like a good day to us!
Throw an anti-valentine’s party
If you are not convinced a quiet night in is going to show cupid who is boss, then why not invite fellow single friends to an anti-Valentine’s night in? Make some homemade heart shaped pizzas ready to hack up and share, bake up some delicious treats with anti-Valentine’s decorations and themes, and to top off, make killer Cosmopoliton cocktails to truly embrace the single life – Sex and the City style.
Don’t let Valentine’s be a day to hide away and sulk, embrace it and make it an excuse spoil yourself silly!
