Description

Some games are just inherently addictive, and Bananagrams is a class-A addictive game. You have been warned. Bananagrams is a highly portable heaven for wordsmiths. We're not too sure why the game is called Bananagrams. It does come in a quirky banana shaped bag but it is doesn't have an awful lot to do with anagrams. It is, however, a superb game, and anyone with a love of Speed Scrabble (without the playing board) will adore Bananagrams. The zippered banana skin contains 144 letter squares and the game can be played by just yourself, or up to eight players.

First you tip out all the letters and turn them face down, then each player takes 21 tiles leaving the remainder in a pile in the middle. Shout 'Split' once you have turned over your tiles and start making your own grid of intersecting words. The moment you've created a grid using all your letters, shout 'Peel' and every player must take another tile, whether they have a complete grid or not. If you have a letter you just can't fit into your grid, you can shout 'Dump' and put it back into the pile - but you have to take three extra letters from the pile as a penalty. Play continues until there are fewer tiles left than there are players, and the victor has a complete grid, with no bizarre words - which would disqualify you!

It's fast and furious and deeply addictive, and the neat zip-lock banana case makes it super-portable (great for airports, holidays and taking round to mates' houses). All in all Bananagrams is a high-speed adrenalin scrabble without the board or the maths, and it perks your brain up no end!

Features:

  • A highly addictive, super-portable word game.
  • Bananagrams comes in a quirky banana shaped, zip-lock bag.
  • 144 letter tiles from which to make grids of intersecting words.
  • The game can be played in several ways, ranging from a quick five minute hand to an all day affair.
  • Suitable for 1-8 players.
  • When playing in a group the game is a race against time to use up all the tiles.
  • Banana terminology such as 'Split', 'Peel' and 'Rotten Banana' add a silly twist to the game.
  • Suitable for ages 7 years+.

Size:

  • 23 x 9 x 3.5cm.

Bananagrams

It was amazing, such a better advance on scrabble. My daughter can't stop playing it. I really enjoy it because you can play it with all the family. Everyone enjoyed it and found it fun.

Terrific idea for scrabble/wordgame addicts

I bought one of these for my twenty-year-old son and another for my slightly older nephew, and they were constantly playing with them. The game is a lot quicker than scrabble, which is good if there are lots of people who want to play together but don't want to spend hours poring over the board at the end. We all enjoyed this game immensely and I am tempted to buy another one for myself and my husband to take on holiday with us. We could play this game virtually anywhere, and its good-quality plastic pieces make it satisfying both to touch and to hear as they click together.

Brain exercise

Now a family favorite. My parents now play regularly and are hooked, and my brother in law sneaks a game in on a visit.. ..think I will have to get him a set!

WOW Bananagrams

Clear your social calendar, cancel all appointments, eat very fast food and stay in your pyjamas! If you order this, you will not want to do anything else but play the game. Anyone who likes scrabble, countdown or apterous will love it and it can be played on your own or with others. Beware, however, that it doesn't disappear into someone else's pocket! Will AP'PEAL' to anyone happy in their own 'SKIN' (sorry!)

great fun

this game is great! played it on holiday with kids and adults and it was really good fun. not as restrictive as scrabble (no counting points- thus less frustrating for the littlens) and easy- peasy for little kids, too. i would definately recommend this one!

A handy game for travelling or at home, not so easy for the younger ones but can be fun for adult games!

Erm, very Bananalike (not)

Big, bright & yellow to catch the eye of young people it's well made and has a nice 'solid' feel about it. There's nothing cheap or nasty about any part of it so it should withstand small hands/chewing/dribble/marmalade at breakfast etc etc and you can watch in admiration as your children start their tentative steps towards literature at the same time you realise your own spelling prowess isn't all that good. Wonderful design, big, bright & attractive - just like my friend Jay, but that's another story.............

Bananagrams drives you bananas!

Having purchased initially without knowing what it was the whole family has become addicted to this game. Ideal for all ages, increases word power ,no scoring, brilliant and I have just purchased another 2 games for presents. I don't doubt more orders will follow. Absolutely brilliant.

Have I made a mistake?

No, I don't think so. Some noise on Christmas Day is okay and these are so much better than a complete drum kit! Great value and a jolly good pressie!
